Any 4H poultry/rabbit judges out there?

That's a good point. If the class is pretty small I wouldn't give a third place.

    Roo or hen? Updated post

I'm thinking female. I don't see any male specific feathering that I would expect at that age.

Any 4H poultry/rabbit judges out there?

In my county, each bird is judged against the APA standard and awarded blue, red, or white based on how well they measure up to the book. They are not judged against each other, just themselves. Then they will be judged against all other birds in groups of LF or B cock, hen, pullet, and...

    Is this a rooster?

That's a boy. Sometimes the males lower down in the pecking order will act more submissive and hen like to not attract the attention of the flock leader, especially if they are young cockerels with an older cock.

    Breed identification

I had forgotten about that, but you're right, that is probably what this is. I actually have a SC Ancona from RC parents so I should have remembered.

What breed are these white bantams

Did the previous owner have other birds? I can't imagine those birds laying much with the state their in. Hatchery quality may also not be exactly like the standard, which might explain the eggs. Maybe a Leghorn cross?

The last three remind me of D'anvers.

    Breed identification

I would call that gold laced, but she's got a single comb so she can't be a pure Wyandotte.

Young birds not able to move head.

For an update, the charcoal seems to have cured them. I'm still not positive on what happened, but my guess is botulism.

Young birds not able to move head.

I had some trouble with feather pickers and they have yet to grow back. I gave each some activated charcoal and added it into the feed. It only took 12 hours and two looked normal again. One cockerel is still droopy but seems to be getting better. I did not add any vitamins to the water.

Young birds not able to move head.

I opened a new bag of feed recently. I have given poultry cell in the water a few days ago, and I tried activated charcoal this morning. The one seems to be doing better. I have dealt with wry neck before and they always twist their head upside down. These chicks seem to have little to no...

Young birds not able to move head.

The weird part is that it's only been this one breed. The others seem fine.

Young birds not able to move head.

The food is not moldy. I gave a poultry vitamin mix separate from the corid. Corid was about a week, 9.5cc per gallon, but I really don't think it's coccidiosis. I have separated affected birds. They may have gotten into moldy bedding, but I don't think they would have eaten it. Yesterday was...

Young birds not able to move head.

So this started a week or so ago. I have a batch of two month old chicks. Recently they have been experiencing problems walking. It's only one bird at a time and only my Barnevelders and one cross, not the other chicks. One keeps trying to stick her legs straight out behind her, another two are...
