    Chickens dying

I had no chickens and was given the first few. They were dropping dead. Then I got the second batch and haven’t even had them a month before the first has died. I’m feeding dumor laying mesh. We don’t have weasels.

    Chickens dying

How would I know which one and what should I do about it?

    Chickens dying

No, I didn’t isolate any of them. Don’t really have any way to do that. Shouldn’t be a mold issue. I keep the feed bag sealed in my garage. I clean their food container fairly regularly. The only symptom I’ve seen is one of my hens made a squeaking sound every few minutes for about 3 days up...

    Chickens dying

I was given 6 chickens from one of my buddies. 2 bantam hens and a rooster. 2 silver laced Wyandotte’s. 2 bantam hens and 1 silver died. I bought a rooster and 2 hens that are barred rocks from someone else. I have the bantam rooster away. Today, my wife text me and said the rooster was dead...

    Dom, barred, or Plymouth?

Since I just got them, should I keep them in the pen for a certain length of time before I start letting them out?

    Dom, barred, or Plymouth?

Is there a good time of day to let them out? Is it hard to get them back in?

    Dom, barred, or Plymouth?

I think the biggest predator I’m going to have to worry about is the guard cat. She guards them while they’re in the pen, but I think she’d eat them if I let them out.

Well, I was going for Cute - for my wife’s liking Easy - for my kid’s learning Smaller - so I could move it easily.

    Dom, barred, or Plymouth?

I’m at work, so those are the only pics I have for now. I have 3 that are barred rock and one is a silver lace. I had her before I bought the trio.

    Dom, barred, or Plymouth?

I had some bantam hens and a rooster. I got rid of them and only have 3 hens and 1 rooster left. I did deviate from the plan just a little bit. It didn’t call for a guard cat, but I thought that was a nice addition!

    Dom, barred, or Plymouth?

This is a different look. I built this using plans recommended from this site. I know that doesn’t always mean it’s the right way to go. Just saw good reviews on it.

    Dom, barred, or Plymouth?

Yeah, I have 3 hens and a rooster. Ideally, I would like 4 hens and a rooster. You think my coop is too small for 5 chickens? It’s 16 square ft of scratching room. They all have enough room to get on the roost. I have 2 nest boxes that are about 1.5’ x 2’. After they get down to dirt, I move the...

You base this on comb alone?

    Dom, barred, or Plymouth?

The chicken in the very back is a silver laced wyandotte. Can anyone identify, with any degree of certainty, what the others are? I was told, by the person I purchased them from, that they are doms. But they have a single comb, so someone else told me they are rocks. Doesn’t really matter, as...
