    Fertilized egg??

They are supposed to be broad-breasted bronze (the tom and one hen) and a broad-breasted white. That's why I was so surprised that the eggs are fertilized since I've heard it can be hard for the broad-breasted turkeys to mate. They haven't gotten as big and fat as I thought they would, and they...

    Fertilized egg??

I've got three turkeys that I got last year with the intention of butchering. We butchered one around thanksgiving but haven't gotten around the last three. One of them is a tom and the other two just started laying this week. I hadn't been positive that he was a tom until recently since he...

    Fertilized egg??

Are my eyes deceiving me or is this turkey egg fertilized?!? If so, what would be my next steps if I want to hatch any eggs?

    Egg production drop?

    1. It doesn’t look like they’re drinking less. I’d even say they’ve been drinking more. 2. As of right now I don’t have a great set up to keep feed out all the time but I will try to keep more feed out there. 3. No, they were laying pretty well last month and they were getting free ranged the...

    Egg production drop?

I will try bumping up the feed. I did just measure and and it’s probably more like 7-8 cups a day but by what you’re saying I may still need to give them a bit more.

    Egg production drop?

I thought about the water and I do need to clean it a bit better but I actually just switched their waterer to a bigger one about two weeks ago. This was about the same time they started to drop in production. When I gave them the bigger waterer I even thought to myself that it would help their...

    Egg production drop?

So, I have 12 hens all just about 1 year old. I have two of each of the following breeds: Buff Orpingtons, Australorps, Easter Eggers, Salmon Favorelles, Silver Laced Wyandotte’s, and Sapphire Gems. I think that they are all laying now and last month I was getting about 5-7 per day the most I...

    Bantams and standard together?

I don’t have any Roos and don’t plan on getting one anytime soon so that wouldn’t be an issue for me. Have you had your bantams get pecked on more than standard size in your experience?

    Bantams and standard together?

I’ve been planning on getting 6 Golden Comets sometime this spring. I was also thinking of possibly adding a couple of bantams to my flock. Do bantams do okay with a flock of standard size hens or would I need separate them? I don’t want to put the bantams at risk. Thanks for any advice

    EGG EATERS!?!

I've been feeding them layer pellets 16% protein. I feed them once in the morning and once in the evening. They free-range for probably around 8-10 hours a day so they get any bugs and other things they find in the yard. They also have access to a compost pile (vegetable/fruit scraps, eggshells...

    EGG EATERS!?!

I have not been, but I plan on putting it out when I get home. They do have access to a compost pile where there are crushed eggshells, but that has obviously not been enough. They are not new to laying. Two have been laying for close to three years, and five of them have been laying for about a...

    EGG EATERS!?!

So, I have seven hens ranging from 1.5-3.5 years old. I have never had any trouble with them eating eggs, but yesterday I went to let them out of their coop/run to free range for the day as I always do. I noticed there were two intact eggs in the run as well as two broken shells (empty of all...

    Day or night?

Night because I have a lot of hair (down to my waist) and it works out best for drying it. If I shower in the morning then I have to blow dry and that takes too long. Also means I can sleep in a little later :yesss:

    Easter Egger Question

I'm not sure if this is where I should post this but I was just wondering what you guys thought. I have this EE named Froo-Froo and I was wondering if you all had any idea what she might have in her (What breed she might be crossed with). Do you know what this feather pattern is called--if it...
