well the coop floor did dry out so I put down some new bedding and their in the coop and not in mud. thanks for all the replies. I guess i'll need to start diverting the rain runoff this summer.
After having several inches of rain my coop floor which is dirt ,is now mud. I had an idea of putting pallets down on the dirt/mud floor and covering with plywood,then pine bedding. Whats everyones thought on that.
sold ten dozen eggs this week for 15.00,usally sell at least 6 dzn per week at 1.50 a dzn. buy 50 lbs of feed and 50lbs of scratch a month so i figure thir paying for their own food plus giving me some lunch money.
just my opinon, but i would switch to layer pellets,maybe there not getting enough to eat with the crumbles? plus if you don't already, give layer pellets 24 7. ive got a 7 pound feeder filled every 2 days for 15 hens and their fat as can be.
Actually, this is her second egg cause i broke the other to see if it was fertle or not. It was!!! So my ? is this, what do i do with it cause she not broody yet. do ileave it in the nest or what. please help.
Dorito is a hen. my hens looked the same at 21 weeks.they didn't start laying untill they were about 24 to 25 weeks. had one hen i could have sworn was a roo but turned out to be a hen also.
you can buy it at a feed store and yes it is cracked corn and other grains. some people on here only feed it in winter because they say it warms their body up, but i've been feeding it all summer as a treat with no problems.
