Yes we hunt all four of the adult dogs. They live off chains and each have their own beds in our room. I think we are the only people I know of that don't chain or confine our hunting dogs, but after all of this I think we need to start. At least do it for all of the time that we won't be...
sweet Little Leo the day before he was attacked.
when I discovered he was hurt.
This has been a brutal and hard experience, but I will keep the older dogs away from the puppies while I find them homes. I am so heartbroken that this ever happened and don't know how long it will take to feel...
I couldn't agree more. I went to the vet today and ultimately decided to have Leo put down. Just from looking in his mouth the vet said he knew his jaw was broken in two places and possible more fractures that would be revealed on X-ray. Lucy will be blind in one eye and I will give her a...
So I missed having littles around and decided to fill my incubator and raise more chickens and ducks. I had a hen go broody and she has been sitting on a nest for about 10 days and my chicks are due this Sunday. Should I give her a few eggs and let her raise some chicks? Ideally I would like a...
...I feel like now they won't have a fair chance in life or be able to fulfill their purpose for being created, to hunt wild pigs.
I guess I'm just looking for encouragement, advice, an *** chewing, or anything at this point. I'm so upset and wish I could undo their hurt and make them better...
Okay I think I'm going to try it. Where do you buy your seed? We have tractor supply here. I agree with you, I'm not wanting grass. I'm wanting a succulent mix but don't know what seeds to look for. Would be nice to find something that is already a medley of seeds that I could use instead of...
She is much better. It must have been fire ants and a few puppies had the bumps too. I'm guessing they got into them out playing with her in the yard. She is almost completely healed up, just a few spots still getting cream and fading quickly.
She is so much better. It was fire ants, a few of her puppies had those bites too. They all seem to have gotten better and the bad spots are still getting cream put on and fading quickly. Poor sweet girl! She is a tough one.
My husband took a look at her and said he thinks she later in a fire any bed. We have them thick down here so that's very possible. Lets hope it is just ant bites and the cream and warm compress will help the poor gal.
Nyla has had her puppies weaned for a few days. When she stopped nursing all these red bumps appeared and now a few have broke open. Some are purple and look like blisters. I can tell they are very sore to the touch. I have been putting hydrocortisone cream on her but haven't seen improvement...
So Nyla has weaned her pups and the past few days her skin in the teat area has developed all these lumps and bumps. Some seem tender and fluid filled. I've been putting hydrocortisone on her daily but it's getting worse. HELP!!!!
Like I said, just make sure it is something you can clean regularly and easily before you go all out. I messed with three different waterer ideas and when it warmed up they got nasty fast and I had to go through so much to clean them that I ended up just buying waterers.
If you have a ton of birds I suggest you spend a little money and invest in waterers before a sickness spreads through your flock. Either buy the standard waterers or get your tool belt on and build waterers and install the nipples. Consider that whatever you choose needs to be able to be...
I live in the Deep South and was wondering what to plant on the ground to give my animals more food. They have wild grass and the woods to forage in 24/7 but I want clover or something else to grow where I don't have lawn that I can cut occasionally to feed my hogs, mulch, and such with. The...
I didn't get a picture snapped before my dog/flock assistant lapped it up. Okay I have 5 ducks that lay eggs but every once in awhile I get an egg that has a soft shell, about like the consistency of a fried egg randomly on the ground. I give them oyster shell and was wondering if anyone knew...
Do you have the money to invest in actual chicken waterers? I use a sawed off barrel bottom for my water, but my chickens aren't isolated. When I do use a waterer for my littles I put it on wood blocks so they don't walk through it and spill it.
I don't believe it was anything wrong at this point. She has kept up with her pup and they look a lot more normal now that the milk demand went up. They are soft now and her nipples look really great, even though the puppies are getting teeth and nursing a lot. They are started on soft food and...
She is still nursing good and when I massage her teats white healthy looking milk comes out. I'm still concerned for her and debating taking her to the vet. She seems perfectly healthy and I would hate to go spend money I really don't have just to be told she is fine, just really producing a lot...
