We had a sausage and egg casserole for our Christmas breakfast :-) 4 chicken egg, 3 Runner duck eggs.
Best news...Jolie seems to be acting totally normal today...
THANK YOU!!!!!
I just checked on Jolie...she was sitting beside her sister Angelina, and when I peeked into the hen house they both lifted their heads up high in greeting. she LOOKS less lethargic.
I'll treat their water with the piperazine this morning :-) and hope it helps.
Merry...
...Jolie is MAYBE a pound...she's a bantam. I'd have to weigh her to be sure. I'm a pretty good judge though after working with preemie humans. ;-)
**I am fine with figuring out doses and turning pills into a soluble liquid. **We have recently treated all 4 dogs and 2 cats for tapeworms...
All I have here is piperazine :( If she's still with us tomorrow I'll run to the neighbors to see if she has any on hand (of the one you mentioned). Too late to head over there tonight...boo.
I don't see signs of coccidiosis from how the poop looks. We had it once before with chicks in a different coop.
We do have dogs, so it's possible they have scavenged dog poo...worms like that or bird specific worms? Sorry if I am ignorant. :( Unless the medication you recommended is found in...
I fear the worst. I just found her on the floor of the run - she usually sleeps in the hen house house under the heat lamp with her NN sister. She was just laying there kinda in a ball. I picked her up and inspected her with a flashlight...kinda new or me. Earlier I just looked briefly for...
She's about 16 months old. No sign of external parasites. Never been wormed (I hatched her). No other birds showing signs of illness. Not sure on the egg bound part...all my hens have been on a laying strike for about 2 months if that helps? No noticable injuries. Our pug puppy likes to go...
One of my two naked neck hens is all of a sudden a bit lethargic, puffed up (feathers), and one foot crosses over the other.
Does this sound like anything in particular? she did eat tonight. she's in a coop with one rooster, 8 other hens, and 2 ducks. She does have a heat lamp and uses it.
I would rescue the battery hens and give them a good life. But butchering and only using them for egg value is not my thing...I just like the birds themselves.
Still no eggs. My husband has seen him mating the hens a few times. My son thought he heard him try to crow awhile back...then nothing. So, I got home from vacation last night to a baby chick (yay!)...heard Schmelvis doing a pathetically quiet crow at 4am...and the little chick has fuzzy...
Not meaning to be gross bu the chicken carcass might attract it back. You may want to check local laws...trapping may very well be illegal.
Coyotes.
I doubt your rooster suffered.
My 8 year old son just came in and told me he thinks Schmelvis just tried to crow.
I asked him what it sounded like. Henrik made a good impression of a first crow attempt..."arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr'
s/he kinda always look like this...
but I'll try for better pics.
No crowing yet, but I did notice his/her tail feathers are enlongating and getting some pretty green irridescent colors going.
Hello. My name is Schmelvis. I'm a showgirl silkie. I have dried egg yolk on my crest and comb, so please excuse all that. My person wants to know if I'm a boy or girl. I don't crow and I don't think i'm laying eggs and the girls chase me.
Thanks,
Schmelvis
