Hi! Yes I'm pretty familiar with chocolate as I breed chocolate Silkies. Not familiar with how that would interact with lavender though. I think I have all my chocolate entries in my chart put in correctly but if you see something off let me know. My head was starting to swim about half way...
Oh goodness, I had a busy summer......as usual. My husband started his own business, so I was extra busy helping with that. I did find time, however, to convert our approximately 12x20 used to be goat barn into a new chicken barn. I currently have multiple small coops all over the...
Hello! I purchased Chocolate, Lavender, and Ermine Ameraucana chicks this year. I was trying to work on a color breeding chart like you often see for other colors. I'm a little unsure of the Lavender x Chocolate genetics. I am aware it is not recommended to cross the two but I'm not looking...
Thank you SO MUCH! This was such a thorough and we'll explained answer. I greatly appreciate you taking the time to educate me on this subject. 👏 I will relay this info to my daughter so she can plan her breeding program for next year.

I've had several pullets of this type coloring hatch from my small flock this year. I am selling them instead of keeping for my breeding program since the coloring is undesirable.
Yes, my Silkie roos crow more than my larger breed roosters. It's seems louder to me but I think it's because it's more shrill. The big boys have deeper tones. 😃
I'll check on the feed. To be honest I'm very suspicious of a deficiency, although I'm sure she feeds a high quality feed. She's very mindful of her animals nutrition/health which is why this is so distressing to her. I know they get kale, chard and other veggies for treats sometimes.
