My daughter is 11 and has donated 30 inches so far. She lets it grow, gets it cut, then lets it grow again. The last time we both donated it, which was a year ago in April, she should be ready to donate again by the end of the year.

I keep a couple of cinder blocks or bricks in my coop/run so that they keep thier nails trimmed for me. I started that last winter after someone else on here suggested it and it seems to work. I haven't had to trim any nails since I started keeping them in there.
