I don't free range but the hawks still try to get the girls. Last year we had a Red Tailed hawk on the ground trying to get through the hardware cloth. 2 weeks ago there was a large hawk sitting on top the chicken run. We took a 5 day camping trip last week and my daughter was checking in on the...
What they want me to take (Erivedge) does not cure the tumors it may shrink them so the can be removed. All the reviews I have read said when the patient stopped taking the drug all tumors came back. My primary Dr. does not think I should take it but 2 Dermatologists say I should and the...
I saw your post and thought i would comment on doctors wanting people to take medications that cause worse issues than what they are treating. I have been dealing with BCC since in my 20s now 66. I have had many skin cancers removed in the past and 3 this year with 2 needing skin MOHS surgery...
Sorry your having coyote problems. In the last couple years coyote pelt value dropped so much that trappers are not targeting them much anymore so the problem could get worse. With that said killing a few would not be the worst thing, actually could be beneficial to the coyote population to...
I use solar just to operate my chicken door which has did a good job keeping enough charge to the battery to keep it operating when we get those non sunny stretches. I take water out a couple times a day and put a heavy clear plastic on the run which really warms up in the day(greenhouse like)...
This has nothing to do with lap chickens but does with trust. Couple weeks ago I put 1 of my girls down, she was just about dead when I found her and the others were pecking at her. The rest of the flock now has been very scared of me I guess from them seeing me take there flock mate out of the...
I use artificial turf in mine and just shake them out every couple months if not to dirty, if real dirty hose them off. The turf is used for my rollaway nest boxes.
As a retired logger, if you are not experienced in cutting trees and are not sure where it will fall get help from someone who is experienced. In the thousands of trees I have felled I never cut one that I did not know where it was going to fall. Its called directional felling, it all starts...
My hen that I just put down had the crop issue a couple months before this and I did crop massages a couple times a day for 2 to 3 days and she was back to normal in about a week. She did have salpingitis and this last time the crop just would not clear and it probably didn't help she was in a...
I had a hen who just went through the exact problems yours is, mine did not see a vet. I did mineral oil and crop massages but it did not help either. About a week and a half ago she stopped eating, could not even get her to eat her favorite treats and she got slower and slower. A couple days...
Just a tip that works for me is I folded the bottom section of fence at the ground out 18". Everything usually goes up to the fence and starts digging and that changes there mind pretty quick.
My hen that has salpingitis has not laid for a year now and the friendliest in the small flock (7), she is also low in pecking order probably do to her sickness. I know when she is having issues because she really slows down and tail almost points to the ground.
One year at a Trappers convention I was at there was a group of anti-fur people there dragging fur coats around in traps and being very disruptive, someone finally had enough and squirted them with fox pee which was not the right thing to do but sure did solve the problem.:D
You can make a weasel type box larger with bigger hole to try trapping, mink love going in holes. A big problem for mink farms is the anti-fur people breaking into farms and letting the mink out of cages, they think there saving the mink from being made into a coat only causing the mink to hunt...
