Green thumb is itching, anyone else?

Hey ~ did you plant all 8 rows at one time? I learned from last year to plant 2 rows, wait 2 weeks, plant 2 rows, wait 2 weeks, etc., etc. Depends how long your rows are I guess. But when all the corn matures at one time - whoa! Talk about O.D.! Sorry, no help on the Mirai - never heard of it ?!?!

how to make a cement bird bath out of a leaf :) pic heavy

My husband works construction and does a lot of cement stuff. He would suggest using Fiber Mesh for added strength. Your mixture will probably require a bit more water (added very slowly) to make sure the fibers lay down smooth. Google it and see if it could help your projects - it did mine...

Speaking only from my own experience and just a couple of others - don't do anything upside down. It simply defies nature! None of us had any luck nor will we be doing it ever again! If you're lacking for space or just want to try everything cuz it's all so new and fun - go for it!! YUP...

One of many videos I watched about weaving cautioned to use "Tomato Twine" as it's softer and shouldn't damage the stems. We'll see... with the horrible winds we have out here in the country, we'll just see.... I found some at a Menards store (MN) called 2-ply Jute Tomato Twine. It does feel...

    Crafters- What are you making???

Thank you Speckledhen! That saddle thing makes perfect sense now! I didn't have roosters around long enough to realize the injuries but I know that one of mine made the mistake of attacking my 285 pound husband!! And not just once ~ needless to say, we had a nice meal after getting over the...

Will this coop protect enough against foxes, raccoons, possums, and possibly wild hogs?

My biggest problem are minks. They can squeeze through the smallest spaces and kill so many, so fast. I think that they are the varmints that remove heads without any sign of blood anywhere? Or maybe it's weasels ? Seems almost impossible to have a totally perfectly safe place no matter what...

    Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

Admit I've not read every single post, but with that said ~ I have a question ~ have any of you raised only the broilers or heavies? We have so many varmints here way out in the country (without a dog anymore) that I just can't make anything safe enough to try the whole chicken raising...

I have never known what sorghum is even tho I remember seeing sorghum sandwiches shown on some of the old Little House on the Prairie shows ?!!? Is it some kind of a sugary spread? Does it have some food value? What does it look like and how do you process it? What zone and how long of a...

I haven't had much luck with grow bags either. Guess you shouldn't mess with natural nature and gravity and plastics and ....... As far as those tomato seeds not producing, I absolutely cannot grow carrots or radishes in my big veggie garden, however, they will grow in my galvanized wash tub...

    Raising Chickens for Meat

Beekissed ~ thank you for the reality check. Some 'critters' are to be raised for food and the "heavies" just are not happy birds after a certain point. Maybe it won't be as hard as I think!

    Raising Chickens for Meat

WOW! You are so right on! I am just getting ready to order "meat only" chicks and not really knowing what I'm in for. The last several purchases of store bought birds were JUNK! My problem is mostly not knowing what to order and exactly how to butcher and/or dress. But I will go without chicken...

I don't know which to order - please give me some ideas. Also, am a bit new at the butchering and dressing process so whatever...
