The odd thing on the first white pic is it lets the boys breed her without a fight and stands and shakes feathers after just like my other hens. I feel its a roo but just odd. I know its not good quality but thought I would hold on to it if it was a her but no way if its a roo.
Hi everyone, I have a few silkies I would like to see everyones opinion on their gender.
This is one that was suppose to be a 8 month old hen that hasn't started laying yet. I havn't noticed it crowing either. My issue is I noticed it had a little more comb than I thought it should...
Well I had to help my 2 that pipped. I couldn't stand it. It was a good thing though since I believe they wouldn't have made it. I think my thermostat in the incubator I hatch in is going and I believe the temp was low, just didn't feel warm enough, which is why my humidity wouldn't stay up...
I still havn't had a chance to catch up with all the post but from what I have, I see some are having trouble as I am. Really a bummer. I'm so confused right now as to what my problem is. We live in a trailer so its a little harder with the temp fluctuations we have here in florida. I'm...
Hi everyone! So sorry I havn't been back on to update. So much to read and catch up on! I've been so busy with the animals, my daughter and xmas :) Anyways my hatch was the worse one I've had but it happens. Not sure what to blame it all on since so many factors but anywhere from too high...
Hi everyone!!! I've been so busy and need to catch up :) I put 41 eggs on lock down yesterday and I have 6 pips so far!!! Fun times in the next few days!!! Good luck to everyone!
Thank you! I sadly didn't get her:( They informed me she had a bare butt, I guess has always had it?? I'm going to try to post the pic. Does you or anyone know what this could be from and if its a mite or something contagious? I really would like her but I am not in a position to treat her...

This is the picture of her, I will take more when I get her!
Hi everyone!! Well I'm going to be getting a LF buff hen tomorrow!! I was wondering if someone can tell me what color I might get if I hatched eggs from a buff and a blue. I'm sure you shouldn't cross it but that might be the way for now, Of course I don't have a rooster yet but plan on a...
The best thing I found was the air filter tubing for fish tanks. I find it in the pet section at walmart, very cheap and then you can cut it to the length you want it and tape it down where you need it to be. I then just have a syringe that I use to draw up the water and squirt in the tubing...
Hi everyone!! My day 14 update is 36 out of 48 mixed eggs are going strong and only 5 of the 18 light brahmas are growing. A lot of the eggs I tossed were infertile and a few with blood rings. Since the beginning I have added a dozen RIR eggs and 4 eggs for a friend that were her mixed flock...
Hi!! I bought 12 more RIR eggs last night... I set them this morning and decided to candle since I was in the bator :) So far I have 32 of the mixed eggs and 10 of the light brahmas that are for sure veining with movement. I have 7 of the LB and 11 of the mixed eggs that I'm unsure of and 5...
Yes, the hatchabatch is a free app. Someone from the November hatch a long talked about it. Its really neat!! I won't know what to do if half of the eggs hatch...lol It will be a little noisy!! I really love them and just will be busy :)
Honestly I think your fine. I have still air and chose the last few hatches to keep my temp at 100. I have always at some point have a fluctuation. Maybe if it seems to stay like that for a day or so you could try to barely up it. I also put like 3 thermometers in and find sometimes you will...
Well the hatchabatch app says day 6 but how I was originally told it would be day 5...lol Its hard for me to change the way I first did my counting but the chicks will come when they are ready!! I'm starting to go more by candleing for lock down. My first few hatches I had my temp a little...
...forced air. When I put my eggs on lock down I aim for 55. My room humidity though stays in the 70's. I also know that the hygrometers can vary 5*. My first hatch I had the humidity too high and lost several and had sticky chicks at hatch for the first couple hatches, now with dry...
