Yep, crankin it up this year. Hoping to do 1000 between now and November. That's why I thought investing in a good watering system would be worthwhile.
I am going to be building a 4 1/2ft by 24ft brooder for my meat bird chicks. The brooder is going to be right beside a water spigot, so I am wanting to find a watering system to put in it.
Can anyone recommend one that they've bought and have been happy with?
Thanks.

Yes, I used three 54"x16' cattle panels. Yes, it is much lighter than the Salatin style. I built 2 Salatin type before building this one. I really like that I can see the birds as I move it. After 3 years of using it, I've not ran one over.
I've been using Myers Poultry in Western PA. Shipping should be close to what Meyer's charges. I think Myer's has a little better pricing and they most always have birds available when I want them. Their (Myers) strain grows a little slower at the beginning which helps prevent leg problems...
No, I haven't been crating them. I don't even have crates for them at this time.
They were rehomed because the lady that had them is starting a job that will keep her away from home for 10-12 hours per day. She's feeling guilty that they are going to be home with no attention for that long...
This past weekend we got two six month old Schnauzers. They were said to be house broken. They have doing well with the peeing, but they are both having a pooping problem. They get taken out every 2 hours during the day, right before bed, and first thing in the morning. I took both of them...
Sorry.
Brown eggs and yes they will be on the range with a Salatin type "egg mobile". They will be fed grain based feed as well as free range opportunity.
I am looking for suggestions for a pure breed that would be best if I wanted to start a large flock of layers (over 300). I do not want to use the red hybrids.
Suggestions and why?
I don't think you're going to find anything better. I take the tarp off mine in the Winter and that extends its life to 3 seasons. I quit wasting the money on the heavier tarps and buy the cheaper one knowing I am going to have to replace it at some point.
I had a retired neighbor of mine make it for me. I gave him a pic and the size I wanted and he custom made it. He charged me $40 and I supplied the tires. I think I got a great deal.
