As long as the heat lamp and shroud aren't actually in contact with the plastic it should be just fine. If its hot enough in there to melt plastic your little duckies wouldn't be doing too well! Ha. I personally use a large dog kennel for all my baby fowl. It works really well. You just need a...
Haha! Over here a tote can be a shopping bag or in this case one of those plastic storage containers that have the snap on lids! A large dog kennel works great too!

Anyone have any ideas what this little girl is? I'm thinking snowy mallard. She's two weeks old and I'm too impatient to wait for feathering. =D
Mr. Solo does limp a little though... I looked at his feet and the bottom of one of them looks like he scraped it... it's clean and doesn't look infected... is there anything I should do aside from watch it? To me, the fact fact that he limps means it's fairly painful, so I'm worried about him.
The first time he kept grabbing their heads so it was a VERY short visit. Now he may nibble just a little but mostly just enjoys swimming with them. He was quite upset when I put them away this time.
My 2 Easter Egger hens have had their beards and cheek puffs pecked totally off by the other hens. The birds are all about six months old and there are other "pecking order" injuries in the flock ( just little scabs on combs, nothing crazy) but I was wondering if I need to step in and try to...
The babies are doing well. They both seem strong and healthy and they meet a few times daily for a group swim (supervised of course) so they can get used to each other
I don't have the tablets. Its the powdered kind so I just sprinkled about a teaspoon on and mixed it in. He was up and eating this morning so he's getting better!
K, I didn't get a chancery post when I was home earlier but Han Solo appeared to have eaten and drank some water on his own!
He's still laying down a lot though.
The ducklings are doing great so far too!
AND today was the first day ALL six hens laid! YAYYY!
