The 'wisdom' of Reddit: "It's completely fine to give your chickens French fries"

If the potatoes are cooked they are okay. Tomatoes in moderation are okay, too.

    Somebody crowed this morning

Dumplin' is your cockerel. I doubt he minds the name. It's kind of cute lol

The 'wisdom' of Reddit: "It's completely fine to give your chickens French fries"

Why would people feed their chickens fries anyway? Bizarre. It's not going to kill them right away but definitely not good for them.

Hens or roos? I got these 3 as "pullets" from my local feed mill. I feel like 2 are a little rooster like. Thoughts?

How old are they? I think they are all pullets very close to laying.

    What Gender? - 7 & 13 week old

So far they all look to be females.

    9 week old Game Bantams

It's a close call, but the longer, racier shapes and the low angles of the tails still have me thinking they are Phoenix bantams rather than Dutch bantams. Dutch bantams have tails carried at a higher angle. That's my take, anyway. The colors are black breasted red for the female and golden for...

    high egg producing EEs.

Why not get a mix of different types of Easter eggers? Whiting True Blues, Whiting True Greens, olive eggers, a few of each. Whiting True Blues and also Prairie Bluebell eggers are mixed with Leghorns already. They are the same thing under different brand names from different hatcheries, and...

Photos of 2 or 3 Week Old Mosaics?

Can't help with photos. Just wanted to say that I would give it some more time. It's too young to call yet either way.

    Breed of this hen

Sussex have white legs/feet. This might be a Sussex cross, but it is not purebred as Sussex do not have beards like this hen has. If it is from a store/hatchery then I agree it is an Easter egger of some sort.

    Somebody crowed this morning

I agree with everyone else. The buff Orpington is the only bird in that picture that looks like a potential cockerel.

    Silkie gender

Body shape says male to me, but what is the comb like? That is all important. A small, flat comb is typical of a pullet. A wider, raised comb often means cockerel.

    Roo, right?

In my opinion it is a late developing cockerel. Looks like a Wyandotte cross.

Are these purebred Brahma and what colour is this called?

They look purebred to me. The color is blue partridge. The one in the last two pictures has the best coloring.

    What breed are these chicks

They look like barnyard mixes to me. I would think they'd have rose combs if one of the parents was a Wyandotte, so I kind of doubt that.

Okay! so we now know who is laying what!

Sounds like a war zone! Some people are beyond crazy and it is not fun to have to deal with them. I hope happier and safer days are ahead for you and your flock.

Okay! so we now know who is laying what!

Their systems haven't settled yet, so yeah, strange things can happen. Your hens are both beautiful, btw.

Okay! so we now know who is laying what!

There are a few possibilities. 1. Someone is playing a trick on you. 2. A chicken/chickens from somewhere are stopping by to lay eggs in your nest box. 3. Your hens are somehow hiding the eggs so it seems like you are getting more than 2 a day. If they only recently started laying, that...

    How to train your chickens…

I agree with using food. What I would do is to take out the feeder when you put them to bed. In the morning, put some feed in it and play a game of follow the leader with the feeder. If they are hungry enough, they should go for it. Do this a few times, and they should get the idea. Maybe...

Hen or Rooster? Breed Questions? Updated Pics!

Integration is always dicey, but hopefully everyone will get along after they settle in. As long as they have enough space and there are places where the less dominant birds can hide then she should be okay. Most chickens are much happier outside.
