Thanks!
Just got 34 new chicks, 4 of which are silkies!! I'm a first timer with silkies. Any tips, advice, etc?
Honestly haven't done much research yet...kind of fell into getting a few of them. I've heard they're good "homesteading chickens" what does that even mean?!? Either way, looking forward to...

Any advice is welcomed!!!! Please and thank you :)
Looking for a flock of close-ready to lay pullets. I live an hour east of Pittsburgh (Johnstown-ish area) So something close-ish would be preferred.

Thank you!!!
Greetings! I have a question regarding how many lay boxes I should have in my coop.
So I have 22 chickens total, 2 flocks, 2 different ages.
When I first built my coop I was in a hurry to get my first batch in because they were growing so fast. I originally built 3 lay boxes and put in one...
All is well with the chicken foot! It only took a few days to heal (haven't been on in awhile to update)...and actually at this point I can't even tell which chicken had the hurt food.....all good things!
@sepaditty1 sending hope that your garden will be bountiful in the next years! This year was the first for our first large garden together...well mainly it was my boyfriends project, I have been pretty busy adding to and tending to my parents giant garden, i've definitely put in my fair share...

I have 2 different ages of hens together in the same coop. The first batch just started laying about a month ago and the second batch should begin laying here in about a month- should I continue feeding them all grower/finisher feed or should I switch to layer feed?

Thanks! I'll be keeping an eye out! I just went out to check on her and she doesn't seem to be limping quite as much already....hopefully she'll stop altogether here soon!
I noticed yesterday that one of my girls is hopping around on one foot. It seems that she's able to use both but will occasionally stop using one. I picked her up to check the foot but there is nothing visibly wrong. My thought was to give her a few days to see if she was feeling better but I'm...
Was curious if anyone knows the ordinances concerning chickens in Ebensburg? Planning on moving from outside of town into town and want to take my flock with me!! What are the regulations?? Please and thank you :)
@MoffatChicken thanks for answering! Anything puts my mind at ease, at least for a little! I just really hope whatever happened doesn't happen to the rest of my girls. I went out and cleaned food and water containers and eliminated the dead chicken- I was creeped out initially by the dead body...
