Bread with colored butter and basically a whole jar of sprinkles?? It's like something my four-year-old self would want to make...I used to raid the food cabinet and mix up "yucky stuff" to show my mother and then trash...
Yes, my hen eventually recovered. What helped her the most was probably the acidified copper sulfate, since I had used miconazole without much success.
I'd recommend reading these articles and posting your hen's symptoms in the illness section if you haven't done so already.

I do give my chickens warm-ish water in freezing weather, but I have seen people put lots of ice in the waters when it's hot out and was wondering if it would have bad effects.

I did consider feather plucking, but it seems strange that it would only be on the left side of their backs. I had thought a hen mounting them a certain way seems more explanatory in order for those specific areas to be affected, but I guess the only way to find out would...
