    Introducing Chicks at Various ages.

Thanks for the web sites on managing flocks. I also hear to put vinegar on all their backs. This way they all smell alike. Is this true?

    Introducing Chicks at Various ages.

I have four hens that are one year old and have four babies arriving tomorrow. How do I eventually introduce these other fours little girls to the others? How old? Any ideas?

FOX took my girl! And a chick died today....YUCK DAY

I have a flock of six and the other night after cleaning the dinner dishes I heard my chickens upset. (They were all free ranging) I went outside and only saw 5 chickens. I panicked and went walking to the coop to only find a pile of feathers, no carcus, no blood. We think a fox. Now I don't...

How warm do chickens like their coop?

I bought a flat panel heater that turns on at 35 degrees and will shut off automatically at 45. I bought a thermosatically controlled outlet for this. Plus I keep a night light on 24/7 for just enough light in their coop. It gets way too cold here in Connecticut. Brrrr

    Feed / Water at night

I'm a neat freak, so at night I clean the outside run. I do not leave any food out at night. I fluff up their shavings for them inside the coop and always leave food and water for them inside. Morning time I open the door to the outside run so they may enjoy the treats and a nice clean run...

Lime: Dangerous to use in coop?

I just use the food grade DE inside and out side. My outside run is sand and they are so healthy and happy I do have a question about making my life easier on the clean up. I have been using two over sized kitty litter scoops to clean the hen house. I only have six hens who are now 18 weeks...

    CLUELESS about eggs!!!!

How do Cohins lay? I hear not as good as other breeds. I have two in my flock. But I have four other hens as well. I have a Barred Rock, White Rock, Leghorn, Silver Laced Wynandotte. They are only 15 weeks of age, so it will be a few more weeks before we get eggs.
