I have a broody light Sussex right now about 8-9 months old. I was going to sell her because I only have 4 chickens and no room for extras but everyone who wanted to purchase her asked if they would get a refund if she didn't set on the eggs until hatch time. Which is ridiculous if you ask me...
I had a broody hen that hatched out babies and I got rid of all but 1 which is 6 weeks old now. In that span of time I got 3 new chickens that are now residing where the broody hen used to be before she hatched her chicks. The momma hen is going stir crazy with the one baby she has left. She is...
I thought the same thing. The little guy should have been a darker color by now if it was a jubilee. I guess we will see what it's like when it grows up! I call her the mystery chick lol
You think the light yellow/white one with the random brown feathers could be a cuckoo? I know it's an orpington but i don't know what. The guy had jubilee orps as well could that be the coloring coming out?
Alright I have 4 orpingtons. 2 are supposed to be lemon cuckoos one is a clear mystery to me and the other is supposed to be a gold laced. They are 3 weeks old so it may be too hard to tell what exactly they will grow up to be but any input on their colors is much appreciated.

I was hoping it was cream leg at Bc I want a greenish blue egg so it will be exciting waiting for her to lay her first one. I also have a black polish crossed with a black copper maran she is beautiful
Here's my 4 month old hen. She came from a place where there were a lot of chickens and I think they all plucked her tail feathers out. Will they grow back? Her beak is also crooked. Poor girl she has had a rough life but she is in good hands now.
Here she/he is (hopefully a girl so I can keep her) willow or perhaps William. Getting stronger everyday. She now can be outside with her brace with her siblings and mom and does just fine. I'll take the brace off tomorrow to see the progress.
She was is 3 days old and I put the brace on last night and by this morning she was standing which she wasn't yesterday. I took the brace off a few hours ago and her legs are already looking better. She was able to stand and walk a little ways without the brace but I put it back on to make her...
I started with buff, lemon, and gold laced gold laced is easy to tell I have one of those in hoping is a female so I can keep her. But these other 3 I really don't know. 2 are dark yellow almost golden color and the other is light yellow
Here is willow my gold laced Orpington with splayed leg. I have to isolate her from mom and other babies Bc she would fall over and get stepped on. She is now inside next to the heat lamp and a stuffed animal. She will sometimes fall over and shriek like the house is on fire, I'm scared she...
Theses are my 3 yellow chicks. 2 are a bit more reddish in their down and one is white/faint purple. What color orpingtons do you think? I have a gold laced one who has spraddle leg, she has a brace on at the moment and is seeming to get her feet under her more and more.
So I have 2 chickens (small urban yard) one went broody and sat on a clutch of eggs until the recently hatched. Thru that whole process my other chicken has not laid ONE single egg!!! I moved the hen and her babies to a different coop to be safer and its been 3 days and the hen in the original...
I hatched out some Orpington colors today and I am still waiting on 2 more who have pipped but yet to zip. The eggs got messed up and weren't marked for color so now I have the daunting chore of identifying which is which! I'm going to post the 2 that are dried off and will post the other tomorrow
So far I have 2 hatched I'll post pictures after they are all done and fluffed so I can receive a little extra help on determining which color of Orpington they are. One is just about out and the other 2 are taking their sweet time.
Well today is day 21 for the remaining 6 eggs that didn't break or explode under my hen. I peaked under her this morning to see one had started to pip! So exciting Bc I thought for sure they were all dead due to the bacteria of the exploding hen but I must have washed them off just enough to...
I have a broody hen sitting on eggs and they are due to hatch on 8/1, I candled them on day 12 and saw most were producing a chick and a few were dark shelled so I couldn't really tell. So I left all them under her. Today I went out to feed and let her out and noticed a few eggs out of the nest...
