I'm not doubting he is a Roo, he's young. It was just that the hackle feathers were so weird to me.
I can't have Roos here, I have had Hens for a while. Up until a few years ago I sold them as I thought I was moving, then didn't :(
I've just not seen coloring like this so was wondering if...
I only know that pic from what they said when I googled pics.
I saw him mount the hen, or try to since he is young. Pretty sure it's a Roo. He's pretty but sadly I can't have roos here.
Even a close up of the Hackle feathers you can't tell. It's like they are frayed at the tip. I've not ever...
Auction has strict rules, you get what you get. But with Chickens, they are in a fruit crate and you can't see them. The seller didn't say, the Auctioneer 'might' have said there were other Roos crowing. They just grab the wings and hold them up for a bit for you to see.
I CAN'T have Roos...
No, I am guessing it is Young, maybe like 6months. The Spurs are just starting to poke out from the leg.
The Hackle feathers are freyed at the ends so if it wasn't for the FAT legs and Spur buds I might not know.
I just put them in for the night so I can get a better pic tomorrow.
I am...
I went to an Auction, sure looked like 2 Hens when they lifted them up, and I swore he said hens.
I can't have a Roo here but they both have the same coloring so wondering what breed he is?
Probably a mix?
Just got back from the Auction, Sure looked like 2 HENS ! Has not crowed, Big legs, shanks just budding...must be young. Probably why I didn't notice it was a Roo. They only hold them up for a quick look. Nice guy but I just can't have Roos here.
NO idea what breed, he is good size.
I don't...
Oh I had not heard of freezing them. I don't want to kill it just make it NOT want to come here and maybe the owner will think twice about letting it out.
🤔 Come to think of it I know a few People I wouldn't mind slinging a frozen one at
Someone told me that the Paint guns will hurt (painful not fatal) the cat and they usually don't come back. I've not tried it as I don't have one but wish I had one. Got a neighbor that says they don't "own" this cat but feed it and let it in and out of their house  Kinda wonder if...
Did that too... they still picked out what they wanted.... damm near left every Pea and pea skin :gig
Once back on pellet/crumble, no more looking for the good stuff. No matter if it was dry/wet/fermented.
The only thing I let mine 'treat' on was cheerios when I walked out munching on a handful...
I tried that kind of feed and won't ever do that again. I think they came out with that type of feed for the uppity new chick owners. High priced. Sure it is more 'natural' type but chickens are not kept Natural, they are penned in a small area. I fell for it too :(
They bill through it...
If you have a Rat problem, you need to fix that.... they are Super smart and will figure it out anyway.
If you have to go out every day to get eggs anyway, just feed what they need then... till you get the rat/mouse/etc under control.
I always feed IN the coop. You never know when weather will...
Tin foil, make a cone shape. I did this for a water bowl not feed.
It's more of a deterrent. If they still do it that bowl idea works.
For feed I use PVC pipe with a V at the end for them to get at it. Takes up Way less room.
Also, if others have their hens doing this you might want to...
Thank you,
Why is it people think they need to give them anything special they don't need?
Although I can say that mine would pick the mud puddle over fresh water every time :hmm
I always used just the Pellets and pretended like they couldn't have them. Then once they realized that they did (took all of 2 min lol) They would eat them and not know it was any different.
I am not a big fan of treats or scratch. Mine will free range, in my small yard, and get all the...
