Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Honestly, I didn't bother hand-taming my chickens. The roosters all give me space to work, and I give them space to rooster. 🤷

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Thirsty Thursday Cowspots is leading the flock of youngsters. They're rather friendly compared to him. Louis, Vuitton, and Spotty are in the white coop now. Kicked Delft and her babies out so they have a nice spot for Vuitton to recover. They're doing well. Spotty could use a crest trim if...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

More twofer Polishes Vuitton seems rather perky today. Louis is leaving her alone, he tried to preen her crest and she freaked out. But then a bit later he was preening her beard and she was okay.

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Went to the dr this morning. She ordered some more tests to figure out what is going on with my neck. I had several months of relief after my tonsils came out, but now it's the front of my neck bothering me. 🙄 Everyone seems to be doing well this morning, even though Fenix was very confused at...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

I figured since Louis is a boy, he'd be more protective of her. I don't know if Spotty is a boy or girl yet so I left them in the run with the others. Vuitton has a good appetite. I will be giving them some scrambled egg later with vitamins added in. Hubby asked if I could move Delft and her...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

When the blood dries I will spray some food coloring over top and put her brother in with her. I can split the runs in two, the hens will be mad they'll lose their tall nestboxes though. But I know the other silkie mixes picked at her too, we'll have to see who is nice after I get blue on her head.

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Welp, they really tore into Vuitton. She is on the back porch in the hospital crate now, eating and sleeping. She's all ruffled up, should I try dosing her with children's tylenol or ibuprofen? She weighs over 500 grams according to my food scale. A non-gory pic of her current situation She...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Blaze Blaze and Louis Vuitton...she got too close to Delft yesterday and got scalped. :( Brought her in, cleaned her up and applied neosporin and Banixx on the spot. Also trimmed her crest a bit so she can see where she's going now. Last night it looked very bad, but today it's scabbed...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

I have printed 3 sizes of chicken sandal. I will see which fits NiNi best tomorrow and vetwrap them on. I figure if I can get her wearing them, then once a day remove, clean, and check the reflexes, she will hopefully improve enough to return to the flock soon. Otherwise I will need to figure...

Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

8-9 weeks here. He had a brother start a week earlier. They're both silkie mixes, maybe that means something 🤔 they had just moved coops and were integrating in pens

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

I'm going to see if I can 3d print some boots for her. I need to fix my big printer yet again 😩 these darn hi-tech devices are killing me! She's had a great appetite today, she definitely ate her share or more of the cat food. Tomorrow I'm scrambling up a double yolker with some poultry b...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Will be picking up B vitamins today. NiNi and Snowball are doing well, both devoured the cat food and NiNi is trying to move around and stand up a little. I spread birdseed or chicken feed here to keep them out of the garage when I fill buckets, now they wait here for me! Handsome Owl...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

I have a sick chick, hock wobbling and cheeping pitifully. Brought it up to the house for some selenium gel mixed with canned cat food. Had to go catch a friend to sleep with on the porch tonight. I'll cover them with a blanket to help with heat. Daughter has named it Nini (nee-nee?) Both feet...
