...just as obsessed (if not more) with chickens than i am, and once she was at my house holding baby chicks and one pooped on her. it went like this.
*chick poops on friend*
Me: uh oh ill get you a napkin for that
Her: OMG before you get it look at how cute its little poops are!
The best...
This is my chick tartar sauce. I got her at an auction in a box marked "assorted rare breed chicks". She came with a few other chickens, mostly cochins, and is kind of the oddball of the group. I think she is about 2 months old. She has kind of greenish colored legs .
That is a really good Idea! Ive been trying to build an incubator with stuff I have around the house all year, and never thought of this! Mind if I steal your idea?
Im having a bit of trouble with my incubator. I put 9 of my eggs in yesterday, and I had the temp stabalized at 99.5 for a few days before. I obviously expected the temp to go down after I put the eggs in, and I know im not sopposed to fiddle with the temp until after the first 24 hours. Then...
Well, I candled my eggs yesterday after I got them in the mail, and only 9 of them have good air sacs, which is ok with me, because they happen to fit perfectly in my incubator! :) I put them in this morning. Decided not to stack eggs, because my incubator is pretty tiny and if I did stack...
Yay! My eggs arrived! I will be setting them tomorrow, hope all will go well... also, I had a question. I got 18 eggs in the mail from the breeder, but my incubator can only fit ten... can I stack eggs ontop of each other inside the bator, or is that bad? I spent quite a bit of $$ on these eggs...
I dont have the brinsea eco 20, but I do have the mini eco, and I believe they are similar, mine is just smaller. Don't know much about the digital VS. regular thermometer, but I have just a regular thermometer and it is VERY accurate. I have had great hatches with it, almost 100% every time...
Hey guys! Can I join? I probly wont be starting up till saturday, sunday, or monday, but I would really like to join. I ordered 12 Buff orp eggs from Hink-JC. This is not my first time hatching eggs, but it IS my first time hatching shipped eggs. I am using a Brinsea mini ECO, and I am hoping...
I have used this method before with my australian shepherd that killed a few chickens- and it worked. Yes, dogs like dead things, but they dont like them tied to their neck all day. Especially when said dead thing is rotting. I only used the chickens head, and my dog hated it so much that he...
baby shampoo would probly be a great idea! It wouldn't strip the feathers of oil the way other soaps do. Its a good mild soap and would still get the bird good and clean. Plus, it smells pretty snazzy :)
I agree with the leghorns. They are definetly not dual purpose, or heavy breeds, but they tolerate the heat very well. The ones I had kept laying through the hottest part of summer, up to 105' F. Egyptian Fayomis might do well to, but I have no experience with the breed so I couldn't really...
