    Breed?

Looks like my olive egger she had and still has the same style mowhawk. Only difference is yours has more brown on the chest. Mine lays a nice light cream green egg. She's also a really easy tempered bird. Eager to see what I have and never pushy. Mine looks close to this...

    Male or female

The cornish are so easy to sex, like a night and day. Babies can feather sex (girls get theirs first) and with them combs and wattles that come in so fast you know it's a boy. I always say hey big boy when I see the males.

    Weasels with electric netting?

It never hurts to prepare a weasel box as a precaution so it's a have and not need situation. Then the reverse need and not have. It's good it's not hot on bottom. Not sure what kind they got but they were happy with the price that's all that matters and they set it up full solar and so far for...

    I did it again

ooh all good breeds. Fun part is I bought unsexed but my brain is saying the mascara looks like ladies. I did all straight run again even the brahma's trying for a rooster last year I somehow managed to have no roosters (except for the cornish x but those were for food). Saying a nice rooster...

    Weasels with electric netting?

I do know netting can get 'grounded' if it hits the actual ground. At least that's what is going on with my friends netting. Free ranging always comes with risks even if you have all the measures. Friend fixed their netting with raising it just above. They are thinking about finding a conduit to...

We Thought She Was Egg Bound... It's Pyometra!

Aww bless her heart. Silkie are such loves so she will be a very nice companion and can still be fun to watch and have around. Nothing wrong with a pet chicken. I hope she makes it through and can be a joyful pet for you.

1 week old chicks with day old chicks?

Speaking from experience they will be fine, their development and instincts are close enough that they should integrate with little issue. Just check on them often and if any seem really persistent or aggressive give it time alone and it will rethink itself. Chickens have group instincts. My...

Is a 15 way chicken scratch good enough to give ducks all the nutrition they need?

Just chicken scratch as food is not enough, scratch is not a balanced diet it is an extra on the side. I personally feed an all flock, free oyster shell always available and of course food scraps when there are some, scratch and worms are junk food more for them. Just empty calories.

    New to chickens

If she is broody and you want to see chicks you could let her hatch some out as a means to get flock mates for her and extra's you could find homes for. Just an idea if you can't find the flock mates you want readily available for her to start the introduction process.

    New to chickens

Yes it's the premade ones you buy in the store. They may work for small numbers or as a transition but they are rarely rated to fit the number of chickens that they claim to unless it's small bantam type even then some bantams may prove bigger than the coop can hold when you try to have the max...

    My boys are growing up

Do not have quail myself but they are nice looking little birds, it's amazing how fast they grow compared to chickens and ducks.
