    BSL vs black Australorp?

I'm agreeing with Black Australorp, though I've seen the occasional BSL with no brown. Does it have any white primary flight feathers? Black Australorps often have those then lose them before maturity, but they might not have had come in yet. Now, that's not extra fluff I'm seeing on her...

Adding eggs under a broody hen

"If nothing hatches..." Unfortunately, a broody will stay sitting as long as nothing hatches. (That is, if they're a good brooder.) The chicks running around are usually what gets the hen to leave. Freshly hatched chicks can go awhile without food and water because of absorbing the egg yolk, but...

Adding eggs under a broody hen

Yes, in a sense. If all the eggs hatch 21 days from the day they were set, then the mother might leave the nest just before they hatch. If you have a back up incubator that will finish hatching them should they not hatch in time, then you might be able to still slip those chicks under her once...

Anyone have experience with “Hen Hysteria”?

I've never heard of this before, but has she started laying yet? This is a bit extreme, but I've dealt with hens who had bad nesting box anxiety, one of which was my EE hen, Twyla. Twyla never went to the extreme of your hen, but there was definitely something wrong with her mentally that was...

Bird of Prey: Day 11 I went with a Peregrine Falcon today. I was going to do a side shot, but I saw a cute picture of one looking head-on, so I ended up doing that one instead.

Four birds or two, I was counting it as two because it's two pictures.

In one sense, you could have done two birds in one... I love both pictures though. 🥰

    Has anyone tried this?

I've never tried this, but I usually get nervous whenever someone suggests giving chickens food that wasn't specifically created for them, especially cat food. Each animal, especially when comparing different animal families\species, digests foods differently and nutritionists has designed these...

That's a lot greener than it is up here in Maine (and hopefully warmer). Beautiful flock, by the way. They look like they're all ready for the season. :love

I've never heard of them before, so I looked them up. You're right! (Oh, and I saw the picture you most likely used as a reference. Awesome job! You did really good!)

Rooster dumped alone at boat ramp needs home eastern north carolina

Do you have a large dog kennel that you could keep him in a garage or basement? Every night he spends outside is exposing him to nocturnal predators, then being by a boat launch puts him at risk of air predators like ospreys. Not to mention, he's at risk of accidently getting hit or injured by...

Thank you! They don't, lol. Some do work better than others, like Red and Sapphire. For Sapphire, she was entertained by simply eating the new grasses and everything else she found. On most of the pictures I got of her looking up, it was either her looking around for possible dangers or trying...
