Been doing that this weekend too. 8 pints of marinara, 12 pints tomato sauce and 2 more gallon bags of blanched and frozen green beans. Its that time of year.
Also ordered my seeds for next year.
Oh gosh...sorry about the broken foot!!!! That puts a damper in your activities!!! Glad you're driving again. You'll be good as new very soon I hope!!! :hugs
Sad news. We lost Girlie Girl today, my oldest Buff Orpington. 😢 She was born April of 2018, so about 7 1/2 years old. Old age is the cause I suppose. Still sad. I have 3 Australorps, Wordie, Birdie and Gertie, who are a year older than her. I keep watching them and wasn't even thinking...
The funny thing about the tomatoes for the BLTs is I was so involved in making sauce for canning today that I forgot to hold out a good tomato for our sandwiches. lol So I had to dig through the not quite ripe box to find a couple we could use.
Success with the electric canner today! Yay! We're not sure what happens when it goes wrong, but that was the second time.
First batch will be finished cooling in about 5 min and then we'll get the second batch in. We'll get it done this evening. Had a late start after services today, so...
I love days like that! Can't wait until I have one. Been busy busy for about 3 weeks now. :wee
I did just cut up some cantaloupe and brought the rinds and seeds out to the chickens. I leave plenty of fruit on the rinds for them.
:)
Oh yes.
Everything is the same process, but it is all automatic. I don't have to monitor pressure to make sure it's right. Once the jars are filled and put in, the only thing I have to do is put the regulator on after it has expressed the excess steam, and it beeps at me to tell me to do it...
IDK, I really love the convenience of the electric canner. No babysitting. But, if it doesn't work then it's even more trouble. Haven't decided yet. We'll see when I get finished making the sauce.
