She'll be fine. I've done the same thing before I learned the Q-tip trick! Just a tiny amount of course. She looks adorably goofy. Blue-Kote is super annoying to deal with, but I had a bully hen who'd peck anyone with an injury... so...
We've always used painter tarps around the run, then we put up a big canvas blanket (which is again for painting lol) at night around areas of ventilation (human door, coop door, and the vents at the top of the roof.) It works pretty well for our girls!
Happy vet tech week to you from a fellow tech :highfive: I'm so jelly your clinic treats chickens!
So sorry you're experiencing that though... it's incredibly frustrating when people think they know more than you. Especially because of friggin Dr. Google. :barnie
I have had great results with DE, but only using food grade and only in very dry, well ventilated areas. If there's a bad infestation I use the pillowcase method (DE in the case, all of the chicken except head in the case, and poof poof poof-- do once a week for 2-3 weeks and clears right up!)...
I know it's not the point of the thread, but I am curious-- why did she have a ovariectomy? And why the implant? When I look it up, it is mostly coming up to be used for adrenocortical disease in ferrets.
Oh my gosh, I've never heard of those before and I adore them!!
As for my own bucket list.. wow, does the list ever end??
Stripper Silkies, German Deathlayers, Appenzeller Spitzhaubens, Fayoumis, Sultans, I just recently added Thuringians to the list because they look like a mutt chicken I saw...
No, he's just singing-- I figured would be easier to get an answer (or close to one) here than on a popular singing account. I was pretty sure he was a mutt but if anyone had any for sure ideas about it I wanted to hear lol
Hey all, like the title describes I am curious what the hell this guy is. Just a mutt of some kind? The barring is fascinating... idk what I'd even call his coloring! Please, any pointers on breed or what his coloring genetics would be! Thanks!
Woah... all very neat info. So seems like blue ears are not a common enough thing for multiple breeds, but common enough that lineages can experience them anyway
Thanks! I thought Mosaics weren't a real breed-- more of a designer mutt. Am I mistaken? But neat about the genetic part. I've had Cream Legbars with blue ears before.
I'm stumped. I saw a mix recently with blue ears but they're claiming that the bird has NO Silkie in them at all, and I realized I cannot for the life of me think of any other blue eared breeds... anyone know more than Silkies? I tried sleuthing the internet but keep getting blue egg breeds...
