I use a brooder set up for raising the chicks but I had planned on keeping the cockerel that I lost and then it would have been about the hens raising them for me. I know that I don't need a rooster to brood chicks.
I tried culling 3 roosters and I ended up tossing them because just doing 1 took me over 3 hours so I just decided that I will need someone else to process them for me.

I bought these chicks from a woman that had incubated them and the cockerel I thought was a pullet but as it turned out I was wrong. I lost the cockerel and white pullet behind him while sitting with 2 of my grandkids. His comb was small and not very prominent but he was super sweet.
