    Hi! I am hatching chicks for the second time but I'm still confused on a lot of stuff.... My main question is that I am on day 6 of incubation and I have 24 eggs in the incubator and they all are supposed to be firtle ...however I only have 3 eggs with veins and the rest just have a dark shadow...

    I've been having the same issue with my 5 peeps! One is in molt, so of course, no eggs. We're getting 1 egg every other day from the Sussex. They've suddenly become a house of slackers! Lol. They get layer feed supplemented with a small amount of protein snacks,fruits + veggies w/yougurt...

    My thinking was it could be a Wyandotte or a Wyandotte mix but Hahhah I just looked at the feathers ...I had a brain fart I guess ahahahha thanks for pointing that out ...is it a mix tho ....@dan26552

    When there that small the tails don't rally help but they look like females ....rooster tails curl up and over .....and since there 2 months their tails dont really help at this point ....but according to the combs and feet (yes you can tell by feet color) umm there females definately .....hope...

    I'm pretty sure that's a golden laced wyandotte in the front ...and the rest are red links ....look up pics of them and compare the one in the front to a golden laced wyandotte ....but I'm 100% positive that's a golden laced wyandott(The one in the front)....and the rest are red links...or...

    I'm going to just feed them layer pellets from now on and seed as treat every now and then I hope they start laying again .... I just put in there feed what the guy at the feed store said but I guess that wasn't right ....is there any other advice on getting them back in good shape

    Well been monitoring since about 9 there has been no pips and no more chirping. Just finished candling and 21 of my 30 were duds = ( still holding out hope for the last 9!     Then I would go back to believing it is a diet issue. Stop feeding the corn and birdseed for a while. Your girls may be spoiled and protest a bit but don't give in. They will eventually eat their food. You might want to switch back to a grower feed, game bird feed or high protein flock raiser...

    So, they were laying up until a couple of weeks ago and then stopped?  What breeds are the hens?  How many eggs were you getting per week prior to the recent stoppage?  What feed are you giving them?  Do they have access to lots of clean, fresh water?  Have you examined them for any signs...

    Yeah but I would do it super fast ....also try not to turn them too much when you do ...just pick them straight up and turn them slowly to there side and put them down gently on the bottom of thw incubator...I incubate mine in egg cartons and then take them out on day 18 ...... Totally safe...
