Me too. You probably don't remember but she & her sister, Alpia, were chronic broodies their 1st year. Unbreakable. 🙄 It's so nice to be able to give her fertile eggs & let her sit to some purpose.

Wrold has her chick out & about.

No. She stole an Aracuna egg so was sitting on 2 blue & a brown- not that it matters any more. I was out all morning & came home to find Wrold off the nest & out in the coop with her chick, the extra eggs stone cold. I'd say she is done.

No...but she stole an extra egg & is still sitting. The extra egg isn't due for another 10 days. Not happy, Jan...🫤

EXCITING NEWS! I have one egg hatching! I can see the beak & some of the feathers. She looks a bit like Cobweb. I'd about given up thinking all the eggs were duds or Wrold had done something dastardly along the way.

Henry is the most wonderful rooster! I am, as I have said, battling stick flea. Today there were very few on anyone & few running round ~ until I came to Henry. Now Henry doesn't like being grabbed anymore than any other chicken but he is docile once nabbed & He settled into my lap prepared to...

Probably. I watched her send 2 kookaburras off. Too near her nest. Q

My resident currawong has built her nest in the ficus that overhangs the chicken coop. She is fiercely territorial but seems to understand the chickens, the cats & I are now part of her territory. She does not harass us. She does steal the occasional egg but what's an egg or two between friends?

I lost Sweetpea yesterday. Not really a surprise. She never regained her mobility despite everything I tried. I think she enjoyed her life, such as it was. She had a good appetite & was always excited for me to lift her out of her crate & settle her somewhere in the pen with food & water...

Most of our birds are opportunists, which is why Ha'penny was so crucial to flock safety. She didn't give them opportunity. 🤣

My friend lost a bunch of chicks to the crows. They shot one & hung it up & had no more trouble.

Perhaps... Henry is very taken with Alpia. As a non-chook I see that all my super strong personalities are now gone and what's left are sweet, non-aggressive, non-dominant girls. The flock is now mostly really, really young. World, & Alpia are the oldest ~5/6. Chavi is 3/4. Everyone else...
