    Pullets?

We ordered pullets, but starting to wonder. The white with black is a Delaware. The redish brown one we are not sure. We ordered hatchery choice rare, too. They are about 2.5 months old. The Delaware makes sounds that have made me question it first. Thank you!

    Hen? Breed?

I will add we ordered 2 dual purpose hatchery choice and 4 rare breed hatchery choice along with a Delaware and Buff Orpington (that showed up really really tiny) that I can easily identify. The 2 extra chicks could be anything I suppose though. My son ordered some white leghorns and Americanas...

    Hen? Breed?

Hoover Hatchery. We ordered 14 hens and 1 rooster (which we know the breed, so it's not this one), but they also threw in 2 extra chicks, so I suppose they could have thrown in 2 more roos. That will be too many for our flick, so hoping not. It is about a month old now. Feet/legs are orangish.

    Hoover Hatchery

Thank you everyone. We ended up ordering some more because my son lost almost all of his to a predator and has a small coop that can't handle the 15 chick minimum order. I didn't learn though and ordered 4 hatchery choice rare breed chicks and 2 hatchery choice dual purpose chicks along with a...

    Hoover Hatchery

Sorry, I was talking about the white one probably not a leghorn due to green legs. I assumed that was a colored egg layer of some sort because of leg color. I am wondering if the #5 is a brown leghorn. She has very yellow legs.

Advice on Hatcher for mixed breeds

We went through our local Ag Coop who orders through Hoover's. There is a minimum order of 15 chicks, but no breed minimum. The prices were also much lower than those on the Hoover website.

    Hoover Hatchery

Do leghorns have green legs? My son ordered Leghorns in the same order. This one started with a black face.

    Hoover Hatchery

Sorry, cross posted. Yes, I agree on #3. Coloring right, but doesn't seem laced.

    Hoover Hatchery

That would explain my difficulty. 😁 Thinking at this point jthe top 3 are my colored egg layers with #3 being a Starlight. Could #5 be a brown leghorn? She is by far the most curious and adventurous.

    Hoover Hatchery

We purchased 3 hatchery choice colored egg layer and 3 hatchery choice egg layer pullet chicks from Hoover Hatchery. They are 2.5 months old. I was excited to see what they would be, but still am unsure. One is definitely a Turken. We ordered 2 Golden Comets, too, so I know 3 of our 8...

    Getting a New Dog

Hello! I don't know if this is the best place to ask this, but here goes. We currently have a dog that was raised as a puppy and is now 15. She came to us after our chickens, but as a puppy was fairly easy to train. At the time we also had my husband's chocolate lab who was regularly...

    Collecting guinea eggs to hatch

What is the best way to keep them viable? How long can you keep them? We plan to put them under a broody bantam hen when we have enough.

Bantam hen with leg straight back

It seems worse and both legs are not right. Her name is Little Peep. We lost a hen about a month ago to most likely Mareks. She presented with wry neck first and we tried everything. She was 2. We currently have many hens molting. It has been a cold and damp spring. May be possible she got...

Bantam hen with leg straight back

I felt all over and it seems pretty normal. I have been getting her legs under her when I set her down and she stays that way until she decides to move. I find her with her right leg straight back then.
