Alright so my OG (older girls) I have had for 2 years now. About 3 months ago, I lost my favorite hen to some kind of dirty butt thing. Now one of my leghorns is having the same thing. She has diarrhea, very tired, not really eating or drinking. Any ideas about what could be wrong?
To give more details since I just witnessed it. The chick appears to be very tired. So tired it can't move or moves very slowly and then it gets trampled by my other chicks and doesn't seem to care. It just lays there until it is trampled to death.
I have chicks that are 8 weeks old and 5 of them have just dropped dead. They were fine and then I find them laying down with their eyes closed and they get trampled to death. I have already started to introduce these chicks to my flock and now I am worried about my entire flock of 75. What in...
I love Cayugas. My girl out lays the pekin. But that could be because the pekin had everything wrong with it when she hatched. And my Cayuga boy is so friendly.
I have a hen that I discovered had little white junk in the corner of her eye on Thursday. I separated her and started her on vitamins and vet RX. But now it's Sunday and it is getting worse. Does anyone know what this is and what kind of treatment I can give her? Someone said it was Coryza but...
Feed them the shells from the eggs you are getting. Crush them up and mix them with some yogurt. Basically they need some more calcium. But only feed the shells that your chickens lay nothing from another flock or store bought eggs to prevent any cross contamination. But it could just be a new...
Heat could be an issue right now. I know I am just now starting to get all my girls to start laying consistently again. And with them being newbies at laying it might take a little while until their system gets regulated.
Definitely take the clear one out. If you don't it could explode and will be really stinking. Trust me on this it is not a smell you want to have in your house. I learned the hard way.
On the cracked one, I read you could rub beeswax on the crack. But I am not sure if it will still hatch or...
These look acceptable to me. I wouldn't place the fake eggs in there until they are closer to laying about 18-20 weeks. Mine prefer hay in the nesting boxes and don't be surprise when they only use one nesting box.
I bought 3 blue/ black cochin bantams as females. But there is one I am questioning. I bought them a month and a half ago and they were between 3-4 months then. I have a suspicion that its a male but is not crowing. So I don't know. This one has a dark color to its feathers and bigger crown and...
