After a long hiatus I have chickens again. 8 standard cochin girls. These have always been my favorite. I just love their big fluffiness and sweet dispositions. There is one white- minnie pearl. 2 splash- clara and hettie. 5 partridge - 1 named chicklet and the other 4 are the fluffy butt...
Hi to all,
I was wondering if any of you brahma lovers could tell me if this is a hen or roo. It was my free chick from MM and I'm thinking it is a dk brahma. I thought at first that it was a roo.It got big fast , but that just may be a dk. brahma thing. The chick is 11 weeks old now, but I see...
To Bluff Country Shepherdess, the mille fluer bantam cochins are just beautiful. And the egg art is the funniest thing I've seen in awhile. Have been battling RA pain the last few days and laughing at the egg art made my day.
Thanks for that.
Tammy
Thanks all for the compliments.
I live outside of Summersville. About in the middle of the state. Been to Clarksburg many times. While in high school I lived in Elkins. Does 24fanatic mean you are a Jeff Gordon fan???? Thats who I root for on Sundays. My african grey parrot, Opie, even says go...

I like your quilts, especially the moose. I have never machine quilted. I have always hand quilted. I have RA now and don't think I can hand quilt anymore. I think thats the reason I'm putting off making one. I still knit, crochet, and do cross stitch. Luckily in cross stitch its just...
I have 25 barred rocks that I purchased Aug. 3 of 2009. They started laying in Jan. this year. After the wind egg chapter all the gals were laying well. Most days I was getting 20-23 eggs a day from 24 hens. In the last 3 weeks this has been dropping fast. The 1st week of less production I was...
Here are a few of the quilts that I have made. Its been awhile since I have quilted. Been wanting to make some more but can't get of the knitting, counted cross stitch mode.

Hi all,
Sorry I haven't been on the hobby link for a couple weeks. Been busy with all the baby chicks, knitting purses and cross stitching.Plus trying to get used to new medication for the RA. I'm sick on Mondays and have a killer headache on Tuesdays. Hopefull this will pass. I've included a...
I wouldn't have been able to eat Ricky either. He is beautiful. The other people made the right choice. He will have lots of pretty babies.
I also want to say that all the cochin pics have been great. Luv em all.!!

Thanks Lilpeep for making this clear for me. I have never crossbred chickens before. I usually just had one breed of hens with the same breed of rooster and knew what I would be getting.
Thanks again,
Tammy
I didn't know at first what color Merlin was going to be.When I got him at 2 days old he was a creamy color with smokey looking patches here and there. Now he is an off white color with a feather here and a feather there coming in slate blue.
And lilpeeps could you tell me what a smutty buff...
TY all. I really love the cochins.!!!!! And I was excited to get a splash + all the other beauties that I got. Ended up getting 84 babies in all. I got the blue and buff cochins, light and buff brahmas, buff orpingtions and naked necks. And my freebie chick which I think is a dk brahma roo. I...
Here are a few pics of my cochins from this year. I have never had cochins before and I have seriously been wanting them for a few years now. So thats what I asked for -- for my anniversary this year. And I LUV em. They are 5 weeks old in this pic. I also got 6 standard buff cochin chicks but...
I puchased standard blue cochins from MM Hatchery this year. One of the chicks color is splash.I'm pretty sure he is a rooster. My question is, what is a rough guess of what colors I will get out of the next generation if I cross him with a blue cochin hen ?? And what would I get if I cross him...
Whew!! I'm always complaining to dear hubby that we live to far out in BFE West Virginia. We have 40 acres and our closest neighbor is almost 3/4 of a mile away. But after reading this post I'm glad I live where I do. I don't have to worry about any of the laws and ordinances. Never thought...
