I don't agree with you. What exactly are you trying to say here? I read this everything is different for everybody a lot on BYC. The evidence suggests there are more similarities than differences. Sure, peopls coops look different but essential the purpose they aim to serve is the same if good...
Bear in mind I had to make a few alterations to the Solway coop before I was happy with it and it still has a couple of problems so this isn't a bash Nestera post, it's more the people who design these coops have some great ideas but don't know shite about chicken keeping in the real world.
About this Nestera coop.
The door, it's way too wide at the bottom. This makes it difficult to graft on an alternative opening and virtually impossible to protect the opening cord from rats or even worse, something smart enough to work out if they put say a paw on the cord, the door will open...
Two hours in filthy weather. Pissing down with rain most of the time. A cold wind and a dark grey sky one could reach up and touch. We didn't get out much.
Sylph is moulting. She's off her food and trying to keep her distance from Mow and Glais.
Glais with his beak in the food as usual.:D
It's that word enough. Before I took them on, the field chickens got fed mixed grain (wheat and split corn) and not much else for at least two years.
They still laid eggs and on the outside, particularly the Ex Battery hens, seemed to thrive. I have my doubts about their long term health on such...
Normally Ex Battery hens are very low risk, but only if one gets them straight from the battery. Once they been held at a distribution center the risk becomes high.
The better rescue organizations collect the hens from the battery and take them directly to a pick up point. These hens are usually...
It would be my preference but I'm sick of trying to deal with the rescue people who are in some cases well intentioned but hopeless to deal with. I could get a couple of Ex Battery hens tomorrow but they have been kept at one of the rescue centers for an undisclosed length of time and having...
Two and a half hours this afternoon.
Sylph has got stomach problems as if she had been at the blueberries. This may account for her looking off yesterday. Today she was looking better but not right yet. The droppings closest are Mow's and Glais's, the runny stuff is Sylph's.
Glais on the other...
I stopped being fussy about things like breed, unless I know the exact provenance of the particular chicken, a long time ago. The vast majority of the heritage chickens are nothing like the original breed now apart from some resemblance in looks. Lima, a scruffy close to death Ex Battery hen...
