Saw the one vet I like, that I feel is competent. Been waiting this whole time to get in. Turns out she appears to have bits of bone stuck inside. ("Bone chips in her proventriculus") They aren't rounded and could perforate. There's also a worry that they'll clump together and perforate. Also...
@azygous
@Debbie292d I found oral fluconazale. Three pre-syringes doses. She already had Monistat twice today. Anyone know if I can give her the fluconazale as well? Or the dosage for a five pounder? Her crop has been loaded all day, not going down
The bright green stool is hers. The other is...
Thank you both for your advice here. I'm clearly getting little to no help from the vet, and apparently more often incorrect info. I'm starting to worry if she actually did the stool sample or not because she initially said she wouldn't. I'm also completely astounded that I had a clearly dying...
@azygous @Debbie292d
But that means that the vet gave the wrong dose to my other hen who died. She was 7 lbs and the day before she died was given .1 cc of Baytril.
Also, because I'm using that bottle with the amount in the bottle being for a .1 cc dose, that means I don't have enough or even...
I meant to say I'm giving her .1 cc, twice a day. Is that correct? The hen it was for is actually bigger than this one and that was her dose.
I wish she would have instead of leaving me guessing, which is really all I've been doing since all this started.
They've always had access to oyster shell so I don't understand how it could be low calcium. Also, I told her I have human calcium/d tabs but she said to do tums instead. I don't understand why, at all.
I went ahead and gave the antibiotic again tonight. I couldn't, in good conscience, not...
Thank you for this. Honestly, I needed to hear that, to feel like someones seeing my side of it. She is 5lbs and I am giving her 1cc of Baytril liquid/oral. I asked the vet if that's correct but she wouldn't tell me. If you know if that's correct, I would love to know. :( Also, I am not sure how...
Other hen...
How old is this bird? Any symptoms like are they eating and drinking normally or lethargic? Is this a hen? If so, is she laying?
The dark poo
Went to a vet, said maybe low calcium and to give Tums. I find it hard to believe that my whole flock could be I'll due to low calcium...
Other hen...
3.5 years old hen, eating very little. (Am tube feeding as of today) Drinking more than normal, lots of white, runny stool. The dark poop was a darker green but has become a more vibrant green as of today. Stool test showed no parasites.
Went to a vet, said maybe low calcium and...
Saw the vet today. The worse hen has almost nothing but white, runny stool with occasional bright green bits. She mentioned, like I did, that the hen is drinking a lot. She ran the stool sample and no parasites present. That hen is not eating on her own.
I told the vet I gave her two 1cc doses...
Thank you. I know the vets just want money. It's ridiculous. I've spent over $1200 and am going again because the three I've seen all insist on seeing each one and testing each one, desperately trying to save them. One is now a passing nothing but very watery, milky stool. I'm taking her today...
Should the samples be separate?
I throw out the entire bag of food and emptied the feeder. I didn't see any mold but didn't just I'm case.
They're 3 years old, just not presently going through a molt. When I asked for antibiotics for the flock, they said no because she said she would only give...
@azygous I meant to say she ran a stool sample on the hen who died suddenly but had bloody and green stool. Said no parasites.
One has a pale face. Four of five have food still in the crop in the morning which I'm treating with monistat. One losing weight. Two have stools that are watery and...
Trying to decide if mine have coccidiosis. Vet ran a stool sample on my other hen, who does, and said she didn't see any parasites. However, I have four with sour crop, two more with white diarrhea, and some small, greenish stools. Yet, if it was coccidia it should have shown in the stool...
