I'm all for no rain in the coop or coop run at all. But, that being said, my chickens have a large fenced area for free ranging available to them during the day and you can often find them running around in the rain.

Yes, we did get a lot of green beans this year. I have several gallon bags of them blanched and in the freezer, but eating as many as we can fresh. They are so good.

Blue Lake is what we planted this last year and it turns out I ordered the same thing. I also have seed left in the package from this last year. Not sure I would need to use them, but I haven't thrown them away.
Only predator we've ever had were the bald eagles. Maybe it's the electric wire around the fence and the secure coop for nighttime. Never had a problem with any ground predators.
My favorites!!! I have 3 that are over 8 years old, and 3 that are about 8 months old. Several other chickens of other orpington varieties, but Australorps are my favorites. Or are Buff Orpingtons?

I pressure can them. I do presoak as well, and boil for 30 min. I haven't had much trouble with them coming out mushy, but I generally turn them into refried beans anyway. We have tacos every Wednesday and canned refried are just bean paste. lol

I made beans today too! I canned 7 pints with just salt for making refried or soups, etc. But then cooked the leftovers with some bacon. OMG. I wanted to just eat them all! I had to get those in the freezer before I did!!!
