Muscovy fighting getting worse - at my wit's end!

The meanest one is actually the best layer and brooder. I was hoping to keep her to incubate eggs, but......

    Coop/Run Dilemma

The reason I suggested a perch in the crate is to keep her out of her own poop. I let an old disabled hen sleep on the floor and she developed fly strike.

Muscovy fighting getting worse - at my wit's end!

Both. But then sometimes it's the more laid back two that fight the mean ones! It changes all the time and they have all fought each other, but there are two so far that have drawn blood (one of which is the injured one in the photos! 😩).

If you're handy you can make your own for much less money and they'll be much stronger.

    Coop/Run Dilemma

A dog house or crate sounds like a good solution to me. Does she have to sleep in the loft? Could you place a short roost in the crate for her instead?

Muscovy fighting getting worse - at my wit's end!

Once my four female Muscovy ducks matured they have not stopped fighting. Well, they'll stop for a couple weeks, but then they are back at it again, and now it doesn't matter if they are laying or guarding eggs or not. I posted about my Muscovies bullying each other a year ago...

    Wire flooring ok for chicks?

This is how big my pullets were at about 3 months and 3 weeks. The White Rock is an adult and the rest are the pullets. Are yours smaller than this?

    Wire flooring ok for chicks?

Don't worry - that's normal. Four-months-olds are small compared to birds that are a year old +.

    Wire flooring ok for chicks?

Actually, they are not too little. I integrate at 6 weeks and some integrate even earlier. But now that they are older you might have a harder time integrating them with the hens and rooster. It should work out but it may take longer and there will be plenty of pecking (a little pecking is...

    Wire flooring ok for chicks?

They should have been in the coop with the older birds 2 months ago. Is that all the space they'll have or are they going to be allowed out of the crate?

    Wire flooring ok for chicks?

It WILL hold poop, especially their sticky cecal poops.

    Very cool setup!

    Wire flooring ok for chicks?

I wouldn't recommend it. While wire mesh may not hold as much poop and feed, it is even more difficult to clean. Maybe you can cover part of the floor so they have something solid to stand on?
