    New layer laying every day

She was 1 of 11 hatched. 6 were separated from the other 5. It turned out she was the only jen with 5 roosters that we chose to put in their own bachelor pad. Before we knew for sure that 5 of the 6 were roosters, they started picking on her, hanging up on her, so we brought her inside. She...

    New layer laying every day

We hatched some chicks this year. 1st year doing so at this level. I am not sure what breed this is or if she is a mix, but she started laying a few weeks ago and has laid an egg every day. She is a house chicken that wears a diaper as does her house mate chicken, so we know it is her and only...

Sour Crop? Pendulous crop? Help please

This is what I been able to find on Amazon that can arrive the soonest, Sunday. Even though it says food grade it says do not ingest. I'm scared I'm going to give her the wrong thing and hurt/kill her, I just don't know what to trust. I want to get started on this ASAP because she is so pale.

Sour Crop? Pendulous crop? Help please

She has had access to feed, worms, and grit and she has no interest in it. When you say she can have food and water in between. Flushes which would mean in between the a.m. And the p.m. flush, does that include her liquid tube feeding formula which also contains a good bit of water? And as far...

Sour Crop? Pendulous crop? Help please

I can absolutely try that. Since she really won't drink on her own right now, should we tube feed her water, and should we continue with the 60ml of formula 1x daily

Sour Crop? Pendulous crop? Help please

So Mae's crop has not improved. We even got her to wear the crop bra by tying it a different way. She is still showing no interest in the grit or food or worms..Her poop has turned yellow, which I read "can" be caused by not eating enough. We are tube feeding her about 60ml 1 time a day at this...

Sour Crop? Pendulous crop? Help please

I read your article and it is very informative, thank you. My next question is this: She is on a liquid diet, so it always feels soft and squishy. Other than her vitamins/supplements, she doesn't get anything solid and I have never felt her crop to be hard (except for the short period of time...

Sour Crop? Pendulous crop? Help please

Thank you for that information. I did actually think about grit but I didn't know how I would get it in her since she won't eat and it won't go through the feeding tube. But I'll certainly put some in a bowl and see if she will eat it. It would be great if she would start eating on her own...

Sour Crop? Pendulous crop? Help please

I need help figuring out how to help my girl. Mae Is a 9-year-old blind house chicken. We have had her in the house since she went blind over a year ago. We tube feed her and give her her vitamins and supplements and she has done very well on that. She did eat on her own for a short time but she...

    Aspirated or something else?

She has been doing good all day and still is. The noise she was making and mouth breathing stopped this morning. I just gave her some coconut oil and massaged her crop, which still has some in it but not as full as this morning. I'm concerned that her emaciated state could be causing her crop...

    Aspirated or something else?

First of all I've had chickens and I went through a lot with Ethel, a blind totally emaciated chicken that we ended up caring for for 7 months, so I know a bit about tube feeding and such. One of my customers went in the hospital and a couple days before the hospital her chicken came up sick. I...

Do darker eggs need different temp/humidity

I'm not sure if this is anything I should be concerned about or not, but I just read today that darker eggs should not be incubated with lighter eggs because they require different humidity. If that is correct, what should I do? I put 22 eggs in the incubator. 12 were light blue (Americauna...

    What to treat wood with??

P We are getting ready to build a new coop and plan to use some weather boards we get collected. I had previously read somewhere in this group But of course I can't find it now, about using a penetrating something. I can't remember what it was, maybe a stain or a pesticide or I don't know what I...

What is happening with my eggs?

No health issues with any of my chickens. Roo is taller but slimmer that the hens. We know he 'can" produce babies because we have 7 of his chicks in the brooder right now.

What is happening with my eggs?

Two issues here: We have eggs in the incubator, NR360. 10 from my roo/hens and 12 I purchased locally. Today is day 11. #1- why are the egg shells from my roo/hen so splotchy when candled? #2- why do mine appear so much further behind in growth than the purchased eggs? All were put in the...

Egg hatched 8 hrs ago, not walking yet

The two you circled are supposed to be light Brahmas. The feathers on their wings are starting to look like it based on the brahmas we have, but I guess we'll see what they turn out to be. Always a surprise when you get tractor supply chicks.
