Sadly, in rural areas people, and their livestock veterinarians, often consider chickens as a commodity that's cheaper to replace than treat.
I miss my big boy. He was the boss and he always kept the other roosters in line. He was so sweet that the bantam hens would run to him when the big girls bothered them.
