Just think about picking up a juvenile one and wrapping it in towel to take to the vet. I was so lucky to not get a talon hooked in me. I was in think 17 at the time and my dad drove me as I held it.
We have quite a few in the neighborhood. Back in the late 90s my dog would catch juveniles that got grounded in the fog. We see them at night when they talk to each other. Its crazy how big they are.
Dog didn't kill any just puncture the wing muscle. He didn't get injured either. Vet said they...
Mine go out in the morning and up at night. They did like the trees but even with sticking to the upper and outer limbs I was having issues with predators. Opossums and believe it or not great horned owls. The coons definitely had a harder time with the smarter birds and where they roosted.
So I've not found Link nor has he returned. 😭
One of my last pictures of him. The day before he disappeared. 😭
Its been four or more weeks now. Im more devastated than I than I thought I would be. I hate not knowing what happened to him or if he's just out there afraid and hungry.
A picture of Peach before her passing. Had her put down two months after this because she had cancer in her toung and got to where she couldn't eat or drink.
The silver Ameraucana are getting better because they are with my Spitzhauben. The Spitzhauben are flighty when young but as they get older they get curious and like to be near people.
When you change temps by 30 degrees it happens. Today we were in the 80s tomorrow morning it will be in the 30s. That will be for two days then back up to mid 80s again!
There are days I play ring around the pen a few times. The other game is spraying the chicken out of the tree. The spraying game has gotten to where I pick up the sprayer and say get down and they come flying out of the tree.
If its wet I do closed toe shoes. The Phoenix rooster I have doesn't like them and prefers me in the flip-flops. He tries to eat my toes through the shoes.
I've done a number on my toes because I ware flip-flops to do chickening things. Last time I slipped in the mude and sliced my big toe on hardware cloth.
That's rough. 😕
I will always give the people a chance to do the right thing. My neighbors dog killed several of my chickens because of fence issues after Beryl (hurricane) after the second incident they got the fence fully done and had a way to secure their dog if the fence got broken again.
