I called her an EE too at first but then I wondered if she was a pure Polish breed of some kind bc of her huge head poof abd unusual markings. She was another one that came from the mystery bin at the hatchery. Never had an EE quite like her before.
No feather shanks and yes they are yellow. Meyer does have those on their breed list and she seems to fit the description she is extremely active and curious and definitely the leader of all the other pullets that are growing up with her.
Meyer Hatchery. I went through all the breeds, I don't remember seeing that one on their iist, I'll check again. Thanks! If anyone else has a guess, I'd like to hear.
She moves so fast I can't get a good shot. She's about 10 weeks old i cant figure it out. Plus she has rooster mannerisms but I am pretty sure its a pullet. Weird little calls too. I give up. I got her from the mystery bin at the hatchery.
This past couple of years it's been raccoons. But there was a big Black Rat Snake in our barn last summer eating an egg. Our stupid contractor killed it. I told him he should've just put it back outside so it could eat rats. Never seen one in our barn before ever in the 20 & years we've had...
We've done mash in the past, and it's fine. Normally we do Levasol sometimes we like to switch something else as worms will develop tolerance if you use the same kind all the time, There's no way I can individually dose birds at this time. I know that's ideal, we've had chickens for over 20...
I can never remember how to figure this out...I alternate dewormers and haven't used Valbazen for a while. If I want to make a Valbazen mash for 106 lbs of birds in the flock, how much Valbazen do I mix?
Hatcheries always have day old chicks. idk where you are, but we don't mind a drive of an hour or so to get ours. Try vitamins first, electrolytes later.
I always get only chicks a mirror and a stuffed chicken mama, and get some day old chicks from a hatchery or somewhere, asap. Are you giving your hatchlings vitamins? And how about medicated chick feed? Broody hen is another great idea, I did that once with an orphaned baby, the broody was...
zyfendA is not really a dewormer but that doesn't mean it's bad. We use it a couple of times a year, usually three months or so after deworming. It is very good for gut health in poultry.
Levasol (Levamisol) Perfectly safe to put in water, follow the directions. We get it from firststatevetsupply.com. It's a very good broad spectrum dewormer. We've been using it for years
Avocado chicken salad (delish.com recipe) Had it last night, it was pretty good although somewhat labor intensive. Good low carb recipe for those who need it. Tonight we are having frozen broccoli chicken pasta....sorta the opposite.
