Just wait and see? Or think ahead.
What will you do with your flock in a hurricane, flooding or a fire?
Sorry if I offended you talking about climate change. But if people try to ignore it, I try / hope they at least think about the consequences every know and then.
More tax.
Cockerel...
if we ignore that the cost we are not making now for innovations (like effectively using solar and wind energy with a better network and e-storage ) —>> will lead to much more costs in the future.
All the cost from weather extremes, hurricanes, flooding and wide spreading fires will increase...
My Black was injured badly last year. I picked her up from a neighbour, sitting and not moving on top of a bin, 4 or 5 houses down the street. Probably happened escaping from a predator. I felt so sorry for her and I didn’t know what to do. But she did.
She went into a nestbox by herself...
Yes. Right.
I wonder what would happen or is happening with AI in wild birds living in communities.
When this contagious AI was new it was on the news, that many cranes, terns, gulls and gannets died. This year I didn’t hear a lot about dead wild birds. I hear much more about contaminated...
Im sure chimpanzees are better in changing their behaving according to given evidence than humans.
Just think of all humans ignoring climate change (IPCC) .
The commercial poultry farm business /CEO’s dont give a d*mn about hobbyist and small keepers with chickens. The lobby from the animal feed industry, large slaughterhouses and huge farms is tremendous.
And another thing. The rules in the Netherlands don’t say explicitly that you need a roof or...

This cat visited us to steal food from the chickens too. She was lost, the poor thing. Took some photo’s for the pet rescue service. But they had no report of a missing cat with this colouring.
After a few months the daughter of the owner spotted her and took her back where she belongs.

Moos, one of our neighbour cats. She cm visits the chickens food station to steal chick crumble whenever she is hungry and my chickens are free ranging.
Some chickens have a hard time to learn to go around a wire. The smarter ones do learn it in a few weeks time.
If she has a hard time learning to go around the fence I would consider the possibility to add an auto pop door on that side. Doesn’t have to cost much. I bought one for € 30 last...

Imengine. I posted it in the auto door reviews. I bought it in the Netherlands and I’m not sure if they sell it in Colombia or Alaska.

I posted another review of a much more expensive auto door I bought 1.5 year ago which...
I don’t know if they talk to themselves or to other chickens. The sounds my hens make are comparable with the talking to chicks if the hen found food for them.
For non mothers this is kind of stupid behaviour bc the other chickens come running to take steal the yummy food.
I don’t add chicks or chickens to my flock. Only hatchery eggs, to avoid bringing in diseases. Quarantine is too difficult in my setup and routine.
Only once I made an exception, with a lonely and healthy chicken who lost her sister. She was apart from the others for just one week. So no...
