Cabbage
Carrots
Turnips
Collards, Chinese cabbage, looseleaf lettuce
Second bed of carrots. These were the ones I planted around milkweed that I finally pulled.
Those are collards in the back.
Thank you. Zaccheus was hatched in April 2024, so he's not quite 2. His son, Jacob, was hatched in July 2025. I like how they seem to be sharing guardian duties.
Here is an interesting article about different egg labels ("cage free", etc.) in the USA, scroll down past the advertising links for...
I've been preoccupied with helping my new dog settle in, and haven't been paying as close attention to my flocks the past couple weeks.
And so I did a double-take today. I had two Speckled Sussex roosters almost identical! Neither had a leg ring, so Jacob's must have broken off.

Christmas play and gathering at my church this evening.
I made deviled pullet eggs, filled in the center of the platter with lettuce fresh picked from the garden, and pickled eggs from my bantams.
I was sitting in my recliner just now, contemplating going to bed, when I thought I heard one of my roosters crowing. I went to the door, opened it to hear better. Yes, one of them, sounded like Silas, was crowing over and over and over.

We had several store credit cards when my dh and I first were married, and we got into financial trouble. Got rid of them. I have a major credit card that I use for travel, and fuel, and online purchases, but now I pay it off every month. I got tired of seeing those interest rates eat up my money.
I started to suggest the same, remembered the flour.
I can't eat CORN, like gluten allergies it's very limiting. I work around it.
I went to a church gathering, and the main dish was shrimp stew. I'm allergic to shellfish. So, I ate crackers.
I was cleaning out my freezer, saw I had some frozen strawberries and frozen rhubarb, decided to make a pie today. The strawberries were about 4 years old, a bit mushy, but I added a little extra flour and it came out fine!
I am the dishwasher, though adult son cleans up after big meals. :hugs I usually wash my dishes and pans immediately after I eat, as it keeps things less messy.
We had a dishwasher once, in a duplex rental. Hardly ever used it.
