One wall of the greenhouse up, another wall half up, panels already cut to size. Then the final wall and start roofing. Just in time for it to get REALLY cold. (OK, FL cold, not actual cold). Mid 60s overnight tonight. Mid 20s overnight tomorrow. After walls and roof, I still have to mount...
Sadly, I don't, I understand a lot of cattle.Ranchers got caught upside down recently with replacement calves being worth more than the grown cattle brought in for processing. My wife and I looked into it, but we just don't have the sort of pasture we would need for raising cattle. So we stopped...
almost everything I've learned about feeding chickens I either read on BYC, read because someone on BYC recommended the resource, or looked into because someone on BYC asked a question I couldn't answer, and was curious...
Everyone here could do the same, w/ time and inclination.
and this whole page is why I like more time when I post.
@NatJ Good catches! Yes, not sure why they are bothering to add Ca, given the low rate of inclusion in normal use, unless they intend it to be added to a "layer-type" formulation, where the "extra" CA, at normal inclusion rates, just...
and correction, I found Fertrell's "Poultry Show and Breeder Supplement" It has added Ca, definitely not good for your breeding Roos, a bunch of added Met (more than the standard, see above re: legal limits) and twice as much Lys as Met. The differences matter, but its similar enough to the...
I'm also going to note that the Kalmbach Flockmaker is already close to what you want, in terms of Met and Lys (in target), without need for all the mixing. Providing free choice Ca addresses the Roo/Hen difference in needs, while the "extra" CP is ALSO an energy source, (almost) just like fat...
Initial thoughts (I'll have to come back to this, as i am time crunched this am).
Setting aside my inherent distrust for anything found on Facebook, the "goal" of this feed appears "confused". Chickens don't benefit from fiber like we do. You can't buy Met off the shelf. Fertrell's web page...
The cold air didn't trigger reflexive coughing. I'm on the mend. Just in time to have to go back into town. My printer/scanner is dead, I have a contract to sign, print, return in the next 24 hours. "Time is of the essence" and all.
That was a good read, as I drink my hot coffee, trying to find the courage to go out empty and refill the water tubs for the animals at 31*F. The small ones, I don't mind, but the big ones are 55gal+, I need to get my hands in there to lift them up. :(
When you added to a pot, and boiled the crap out of it, the salt wasn't such a big deal either - but yes, if one was sweating buckets, it could help w/ your sodium levels.
Growing up, we used another "S" word. and cheap white bread.
I don't make it anymore. Too much salt. Its what I imagine salted beef and hardtack was like for sailors and men on the march.
I'm not particularly fond of French cooking, but there is fine reason why a béchamel is considered a "Mother Sauce". Making it is one of the first skills to master when learning to cook. So versatile.
Only a few other skills and you can happily cook for yourself and others w confidence for...
I'm sorry, WHAT????
Imagine Fat and Carbs, all light fluffy, hot and toasted (Biscuits)
Now imagine fat and carbs and milk (liquid protein), warm and silky and mild and creamy (White Gravy)
Now imagine crumbled fat and protein with a peppery bite (sausage), all hot and steamy.
Now combine...
Thank you for asking. I've had maybe 5 hours sleep (interrupted), breakfast is leftover coffee and vitamin D.
Thinking about biscuits & gravy.
Improving? Yes, probably.
I sure hope so. I still have too many old birds on site. and too many goats, period.
Rained all weekend, now I'm coming down with something. Sitting deep in my throat right now, hollow, unproductive cough. Sound hoarse. Otherwise fine. Lots of Vitamin D and Coffee, should be fine in a day...
