I'm sorry, I saw this before you edited it and thought you meant "sure" you were going to give her some E. E is the most important thing. The selenium is just to help the E do its job more efficiently.
Ours are for the fish tank heaters in waterers outside in the growout pens. The cheapy ones heat to 78°F and can't be set lower. They're very low wattage, (25) but still!
We have the Cozy Coops on them too. I think they have their own thermostat, but regardless, we make sure they aren't on...
We do the same, except we put less than 1/4 dose of this into the feed. These are silkies who are prone to vitamin deficiencies, yet I'm a bit paranoid about overdosing them on something. They're on Kalmbach's Flock Maker as well.
Even at 1/4 dose, I don't feed it daily to chicks because I...
Hi,
Vent gleet usually stinks worse than the usual poop. It's a little unusual for a four-year-old rooster to get that, but not unheard of. I'd give them all probiotics every other day for week or two. That might also help his crop and poopy butt. They make powders for their water, granules...
AKA Thermo Cube. We have the name-brand ones and some less expensive ones, too, we recently bought. The only thing I have against these later-purchased ones is that they shut off at 50°F, and the Thermo Cube ones shut off at 45°F. Not a big deal for just one of them, but we've got several.
I presume rooster booster Poultry Cell? I would mix that into all of your birds' water every other day or twice a week for a few weeks. After that, just once a week for a booster. This should help any with vitamin deficiencies and give the rest a little vitamin boost.
Even if they have...
Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow
You have a great intro! What kind of art if I could ask? We'd love to see any pictures of your flock, your art, other pets, or whatever you'd not mind sharing!
We're glad you're here!
Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow
We have a Coop forum you could peruse. Unless that mother-in-law house isn't functional as is and could be remodeled to be a coop? Otherwise, check FB Marketplace for a shed, coop, (or ice fishing house, depending on where you live).
We're glad you're here!
You'll have to measure your incubator. We have Brinsea 56EX's and I had a heck of a time finding baskets that would work, and never did. One out of six can get out of them. I thought of putting a fishnet over the top, but discounted that idea as the last thing we want to do to a new chick is...
24-48 hours. Ducks are much slower than chickens, if you're used to those. Since these are technically 2-3 days early, I wouldn't worry yet. Give them time and see if in a day there's some progress. If not, you can do safety holes, but preferably give them the chance to finish themselves.
What breed are these? Most ducks take 28 days and if yours are the same, they may be a tish early. What they're doing is a lot of work to them and they quit often to rest.
Just be sure to up the humidity and pull the racks/stop rotating, now that they are in lockdown.
I've put in a suggestion to see if there's any interest in BYC postcards or Christmas cards. I used this thread as an example because these, plus those above would all be beautiful in a box of Christmas cards. 😊
Great! Just divide each into three and that'll be okay.
No, I wouldn't sprinkle it in all of their food as you won't know how much each one is getting and she's the one that needs the extra, they don't.
To put it in food, I'd take a third of it and put it in a small amount of mash (crumbles...
It can take a day or up to a week for the parasites/worms to die and be completely excreted. It's also recommended, if you used Albendazole, that it be repeated in 10 days.
As long as she's still acting well, eats, and drinks, etc., I'd stick with this through completion.
You'd want to follow...
