In CELEBRATION OF MY FIVE YEARS HERE ON BYC......I'm going into "lockdown" tomorrow and hatching baby chicks on Saturday.
It's been a wild ride. Today is not only my fifth anniversary here, it is the Fourth Anniversary of kathyinmo. We joined on the same day, one year apart.
Of course I grew up raising chickens from the time I was born on the farm until I left home.
Then, 4 years ago we built a chicken coop, and on this day, April 25th, 2008, (it was a Sunday in 2008), 26 little chickies arrived from Murray McMurray.
I've been hooked on chickens ever since.
Congrats to our very own BYC Goddess, Our very own SpeckledHen otherwise know as Cyn!!
She will pass a milestone today...
and 4 years ago I remember when she had 5,000!

Feb 29 Newsbreak...…...
I'll be posting pics later but I have a chick from my New Year's Day Hatch that doesn't have but just a few feathers.
I don't dare take it out of the brooder with the lamp for fear it will die from the cold. All of it's 4.5 week old hatchmates are almost fully feathered at this point.
Today is a day when I wish I had the power to delete another person's post.
I red flagged it...
On the old BYC, I could immediately look for a mod and PM them.
I have no clue how to do that here.
For what it's worth, I flagged it critical... in the Incubating and Hatching eggs section...
I work for half a day tomorrow. I'll probably go hiking and then we get ready to send son #3 off on his mission for two years to Vera Cruz, Mexico.
Son #2 gets home from his 25 months in Hungary a month from today.
Of course it picked my candidate, but I was surprised at who came in 2nd for me.
NO NEED TO DISCUSS,

This is for Local Pick Up only.
With what is left of my fertile eggs, since I no longer have a roo, they'll probably only be fertile this week.
I have Leghorn, RIR, Marans, Buff Brahma and purebred w/bw Ameraucana and others all under my Splash Wheaten Ameraucana Roo.
Offer ends Saturday...
If anyone wants to join me, I'll be putting eggs in on Wednesday/Thursday for a Feb. 1st/2nd Hatch.
I'll be using the Brinsea and all of the eggs I'm putting in will be purebred Wheaten/Blue Wheaten Ameraucanas... 18+ from White Mountain Ranch and at least another 6 to 10 tetris'd in from my...
Well it's been 24 hours and Fred is still alive. Fred is a gorgeous Splash Wheaten Ameraucana cockerel sired by Geoffrey.
Dr. Anderson in west Mesa performed the operation yesterday and I picked him up this morning. I still have him isolated. I put the prescription into the water as directed...
Just finished watching It's A Wonderful Life, with the family this evening. And so here is the ending we all wanted...
So I'm only suppose to have 20 chickens. But I am certifiably crazy.
So two weeks ago, on a whim I won an auction of revolutionmamas eggs.... good stuff. BUT, the Post office massacred them. They all arrived shells intact but most were airsacs ruptured and scrambled. Laree is cooking them...
