Hi there, I read somewhere on this site that putting clear betadine on bumblefoot and taping it can cure without surgery..... Bumblefoot usually causes a black dot on the underside of the foot. I had a Cornish X that I tried to treat on my own, but it's best to have someone to help you.
Maybe...
Hi, baby hare less than a week old brought in for rehab. Did well first three weeks, now having seizures. On panacur in case its e.cuniculi, but now got runny tum. Still on milk formula. Seizures at least once a day for up to 10 seconds (feels like minutes), but still drinking and just starting...
I'll post a new photo It's probably just as well she can't breed, I wouldn't be able to part with the offspring I'm sure. She and my female goose are a "pair" though. Goose is not well, but is guarding the nest while Duck-Duck sits
oops
No, Duck-Duck is a Muscovey / Mallard hybrid. She's really small, chocolate and white in colour, has amazing green eyes, a hint of carnucles and the sweetest nature. I'll post a picture later today.
That's wonderful, you must be so excited. I'll wait for the photo's of the new arrivals My Duck-Duck is on eggs too, but there's male so no little powder puffs to look forward to
Completed the antibiotic course, but gooses poop is still watery. She is happy to eat bread, but very little else. She is still drinking quite a lot.
I've been told that one of her kidneys might have failed, which would account for the frequent drinking, lack of appetite and watery poop. She is...
I saw a post by @TwoCrows which spoke of massaging the birds crop and I tried that with Goose today for a couple of minutes. I gently massaged her from crop to the top of her throat and I felt something like an air bubble, about the size and shape of Smartie sweet. I rubbed it out, but no food...
Say its a yest infection, what symptoms am I looking for? Could I try apple cider vinegar, or would this just feed bacteria - if it is actually a bacterial infection? I'm so worried for her.
I don't know how old she is. Maybe its old age and one of her organs has packed up, or maybe its a...
What if there is an obstruction in her intestine, won't it burst if I force food into her?
I am on my own, will it be possible to force feed a goose single handed? I recently had my two Cornish Rock girls (small goose size and feisty) euthanased because I couldn't manage the surgery and wound...
Goose has had x1 baytril shot, x3 Metronidazole tabs and x2 baytril tabs. Surely I should be seeing an improvement in her appetite and / or her poop? I'm really worried about her, she is incredibly thin, but seems to be putting on brave face. She's preening and drinking and moves around (tried...
Baytril didn't have much of an effect, so Goose is on a course of metronidazole 200mg x 2 daily as Kathy suggested.
No deworming until course is completed.
Faecal exam was negative for infection and worms, but I've been told to collect more poop for another test $$$$$$ and if metronidazole...
Good thing the wall is high, or the neighbours would probably think I've finally lost it I'll worm the lot and save on the cost of the faecals! Thanks a million
Thanks so much! I would think I should do the whole flock then with the wormer, but since none of the others are showing signs of bacterial infection, I would only treat Goose with antibiotics?
Thanks so much for your input Kathy.
The vet didn't bring anything except injectable baytril, but will give antibiotics to follow up with after she's done faecal analysis. She mentioned tablet form baytril and possibly flagyl, depending on the results of the smears. I'd be fine to inject, but...
The vet agreed to let me pay a deposit and then pay off the remaining balance. Please G-d the rest of my animals must remain healthy for the next year!
There was no obstruction in her throat, no redness in the mouth, no wounds, no swelling anywhere. Goose got a baytril shot and we managed to...

She finished laying 3 months ago. Other than the feed she seems pretty normal, she's alert and sassing the EG goslings. She runs to come get lettuce and is still alert. Goose is still pretty strong and our weather is very hot, so crating and transporting her would be risky due to the chance of...
