I love that!!!
How about Mocos and Piojos (spanish words).
When I was younger we lived in New Mexico. When we asked what was for dinner, my parents would say Mocos & Piojos. That's actually boogers and lice!
I am also also in NW Missouri. We have used Cackle Hatchery in the past due to them being in our state. We have had them shipped and have driven to Lebanon to pick them up. It's a nice day trip with good scenery! Some MFA stores host Cackle Hatchery "chick days." Cackle employees...
Rooting for Apache. Give him time, he'll get there. I think perhaps your theory of injury was correct. I think you're other rooster or chickens may have injured him.
Wishing you both the best to get through it!
I've had worse injuries and larger amounts of missing flesh from a raccoon attack be able to heal with the right care. I used LA 200 (Oxytetracycline) injection. I cleaned it well with warm antibacterial dawn & water. After patting dry I sprayed with Blu Kote and then spread Triple...
Well that narrows some cross lines quite a bit...only a few have the 5th toe. Also, any I have crossed and carried on from sultans all have some form of "V" shape to the comb that originated from the Sultans "V" comb. 😄
I agree, they all look like mixed to me as well. I have two that closely resemble the first little golden crested one. Mine goes back originally to a Sultan hen and offspring have 5 toes.
Agree, they look like Cochins.
If you look at Cackle's website, they have numerous pictures of every breed they sell. Some are pictures sent in by customers. It's a good reference and just fun too!
Sorry for your loss.
It takes strength and love to give our pets an easy death. Don't ever feel guilty for what you did to save him from suffering. I have been in those shoes and it's hard to shake sometimes. Just know that for all his life he had a good life because of you! ❣️
Your...
Well, I'm not so sure about that! I like to drink coffee and watch my chickens...and if they dare to jump onto my 4Runner....well, they better be praying to the almighty chicken god for sure!
Oh gosh, sorry....I didn't mean the people on here. I meant some of the doom and gloom youtubers mostly getting people all worked up. I agree, coming here to learn and talk about things is a great asset to chicken keepers. I should have been clearer in my post.
I apologize.
Not sure where you are in Missouri. I am in North Central. I have used MFA products for years. Larger quantities (50 lb. bags vs. 40 lb.) at a lower price. You give them a try if you have one in your area. And yes, that's also a shameless plug for MFA, DH is a manager at one. ;)
EXACTLY! I too wish the ones causing such chaos would just stop. There are so many factors we don't know from each of the chicken keepers supposedly reporting this drop in production. It's very sad to see how many just jump on the band wagon without knowing the science and life cycle of...
Right!
At our place it's all in the blueberry smoothies!
That's a bribe they can't refuse....HaHaHa!
Truthfully though...I do give bone broth and meat broth from cooking to mine over layer rations as well as blueberry smoothies.
