    Aggressive Rooster

Often the worst roosters are the ones who have imprinted on humans who raised them, and been ‘held and cuddled.’ I agree with those who say cull him.

We had mostly clear skies and were able to see the Northern Lights last night and early this morning. It was something on my bucket list, so I was thrilled, mesmerized. We sat outside at 4 am drinking coffee/tea and just took it all in….vertical curtains of shimmering rainbow hues…more red last...

YAY! So glad to see! My daughter was thrilled too—-she was the one who rooted and cared for it/them. Ours looks very good too. We’ve got a tomato cage around it for support.

Line of storms went thru here last night, we got up at 11 pm watching local weather coverage. There was a tornado in our county, one down by Joplin. Sirens were going and we were prepared to go to basement. But it passed thru quickly and we got the all clear. Everything looks okay here this...

Would starlight green eggers take baby chicks as their own?

Welcome to BYC! As the previous post said, a hen must be broody to accept chicks as her own. However, if you raise the babies yourself, you can integrate them when they are no longer in the brooder. There are many threads on how to integrate newcomers to a flock….good luck!

3” of rain yesterday, more coming. We had a sudden hailstorm around 7 pm. All the older flock went in when it got really dark just before and I closed them in. The young bantams, who have their own coop, just stayed outside. I ran inside, got soaked.

Heartland Hatchery which is near KC also does traveling chick days, that’s mainly how they sell chicks. I got my EE bantams from them when they were in our area. http://heartlandhatchery.net/
