Take a gander at my TSC .50 babies!

Definitely seems to be the color of Welsummers, however I'd expect the chicks to be darker hmm... It'll definitely be easier to tell for sure once they're older!

    Breed and/or Gender?

Most common with that color is Sussex, and the comb at that age makes me unfortunately think too :(

Male or Female? Mystery "naked" 4w/o chick

Thank you for the response! I'll pass it off to the family and we'll keep our fingers crossed. Definitely no breeding, no roosters for us unfortunately with the current neighbors we have being not big fans of chickens as it is.

Male or Female? Mystery "naked" 4w/o chick

Ah yes we're aware! It's our first time ever having a self blue and we're very excited that she is a little lady! Bummer that the crele turned out to be a cockerel though :(

Take a gander at my TSC .50 babies!

Might just be something like a buff orpington, do you have any more photos? Usually OE & EE at feedstores are bred to have beards

What breed is my new little babe?

    Where did you get her?

    Araucana chicks, 11 weeks genders?

4 & 6 look like pullets, however the rest look like cockerels to me. The colors on 3 & 5 are what make me think cockerel, the other two it's the combs

Age old question, barred rock pullet or cockerel?

Unfortunately looks to be a cockerel :( Wattles & comb are fairly big for that age and pretty red

    Pullet or Roo??

Comb & wattles look small and pink, I'd say pullet :)

    7 week old EE

Most feedstores will breed EE to look a certain way, these guys do not fit that description (ie, no beards). White EE's are also not super common unless backyard bred in my experience. The one circled in red does appear to have a more pronounced comb & wattles and may be a cockerel. As far as to...

    Easter Egger Gender Guess

Looks like a cockerel/roo! I'm rusty on chicken genetics, and Easter Eggers have a wild mixed bag of genetics, but in just casual conversation it wouldn't be wildly incorrect to say "Columbian" colored, as it's similar in it's expression! As far as like plugging him into a genetics calculator...

Male or Female? Mystery "naked" 4w/o chick

We got Rudie (Rudy the Ruby Red Rooster originally, but we changed it to Rudie in crossing fingers for a girl) from a feedstore "Assorted Bantams" bin, straight comb, yellow legs, dark red feathers, I am assuming bantam RIR/Rhode Island as other options seemed too exotic for WilCo to stock...

    Treating Mites in a Quail

Hello! It's been a long time, but I need some poultry advice! I'm taking a quail home today who seems to be fairly happy and healthy, however she absolutely has mites. The mites are believed to be northern fowl mites, they're nestled up in the feather bases in the area under her vent. Our vet...

    mycoplasma? hen with swollen ears...

Well mom took me out there and I held the bird, she went in with some qtips and hydrogen peroxide and got a chunk out of one ear and put some medication into one ear. She said one ear seemed like it was more soft and a little more liquidy but the other (bigger ear) that had the chunk in it, was...

    mycoplasma? hen with swollen ears...

I saw on threads when searching swelled ears a lot of the conclusions were MG. If it's an ear infection, how can I help her best? Warm compresses..? It's been a long time (knock on wood) since I've had an ear infection so I'm a bit rusty

    mycoplasma? hen with swollen ears...

I don't think we have ticks here, I've never seen them or had any animals affected by them. She's usually a little pecked cause she's really near the bottom of the pecking order (second only to a silkie) so she generally gets shoved around, occasionally pecked or picked on. But nothing serious...

    mycoplasma? hen with swollen ears...

I've done some light reading on MG... extremely saddened. Our ladies are getting old now, we've been losing some here and there this year (unfortunate timing with a lot of other awful things happening) from different causes, and after everything seemed to have settled down... one of our younger...

    Pigeon Talk

I'm not sure if there's anyone here who's super into genetics or breeding but thought maybe I'd ask just in case :D In the next few weeks as I'm pairing up birds I'm hoping to crossbreed for the first time. Specifically damascene and birmingham rollers. I've got a damascene hen who, despite...

    Pigeon color ?

Hello! What you appear to have is a black hen and an almond cock! Between these two you could get quite the variety! Depending on the genetics from the hen you could get blue squabs, black squabs, almonds and even spread almonds! What exactly you could get is all dependent on the parents and...
