I’m keeping him separate for now just to keep an eye on him because I’m paranoid lol, but he’s acting perfectly normal. Thank you so much for your help!
Alright. I got the chlorhexidine and did the cut. I’d say there was only about a teaspoon of blood at the most. I was unable to get a picture of his penis after as it went back in before I could grab my phone but here’s what came off
I wondered that also, the risk of bleeding. As well as will I need to keep him separated from the flock for an amount of time after it’s done? Or is it just done and he can go back and everything will be normal?
Is there no way around that at all? I read somewhere that soaking in epsom salt and applying antibacterial ointment, the dead tissue should fall off on its own and things possibly be alright, not sure the accuracy of that though. I’ll do whatever has to be done, just worries me
I just noticed this today, unfortunately late as it’s already turning black, I had dealt with this in him before a couple years ago but was able to deal with it as I caught it early, this time I’m not sure how long it’s been out for or what I can do? A vet is not an option as I don’t have the funds
One of my baby chicks was severely pecked by the rest of the chicks and while I thought it was bone at first and was going to put it down, some are telling me it’s just a blood feather, so I don’t want to put it down if it has a fighting chance. It’s eating and drinking and running around and...
Giving a small update, after adding brewers yeast to his feed about a day and a half ago for niacin, improvement started. He can fully walk again now. Maybe it was just a deficiency all along.
Here are some pics, wasn’t able to get any of his poo because the bedding he is on is so absorbent, but from what I’ve looked over nothing looked abnormal there.
Adding on, we feed the Dumor 16% layer feed, as our ducks and chickens are together. He is a blue swedish we got from TSC, and he is housed in our large coop with the rest of our chickens and ducks and they free range in the daytime.
I looked him over and i did find he has a little bit of bumblefoot but it is not severe at all (ive dealt with it in my ducks before and already have stuff to treat it) so i dont think thats the cause, especially since its like hes too weak to walk, not limping. Besides that, no other signs. Im...
When I went out to check on my birds I noticed my 3 year old drake Wyatt unable to walk, I picked him up and noticed he is extremely lightweight as well. While I’m not handling my birds constantly, I usually notice things easily so this happened quickly. Those are the only 2 symptoms to go off...
