Anyone have any ideas: baby was injured during the catching process of the birds. What i can't figure out is where she's damaged. Wings seem to be in tact, legs don't seem to cause pain when moved, tendons seem to be in tact (no swelling). She does have a blue spot on one leg at the joint and...
I just read a thread on here about rescued broilers and found out that baldness is the result of their bodies grow faster than the feathers and she possibly can live 3 yrs.
I don't know how to post a pic. Her poop looks nothing like that pic. The brown water had some white in it (no foam and not oily) and like two or three little dark things in it and she is pooping twice a day. I'm sure she still has a lot of that craphormone food in her.
Her poop is brown water but the towel i had her on made her stomach very hot. I switched to a sheet and its much cooler. Plus she wouldn't eat the cracked corn and oats so i mixed egg and shell with it and she ate every bit of it. She didn't eat for about 24 hours but she drank water.
I'm already attached. I think she is simply wonderful and i think she trust me. I keep her by my side at all times. Gonna take her outside tomorrow. She's never been in grass or the sun so hopefully she will be more motivated to get better.
It was terrible. 30, 000 chickens went to their death that day. I was so upsettupset that i couldn't save them all. I hate the chicken industry with every fiber of my being.
This little chicken makes me wanna cry every time i look at her. That's why I'm trying so hard and i hope i can give her...
That's the frustating part i don't now how long she's been like this come from a chicken house for George's. I do know from reading that broiler chikens usually lose use of their legs due to the rapid growth. If the info is correct this poor little thig is only 6 or 7 weeks old. Her feathers...
I see and that makes a lot of sense. I'm observing that now when i make her flap her wings she does try to pull the legs up. If this is the case how long will it take the vitamin b? I have just finished her last massage and range of movement and it feels to me her resistance to the manipulations...
I hobbled because the one leg appears to be twisting and to help her legs stay straight until the vitamins start strengthening her bones. I'm try to prevent deformities i think. Should i take it off?
Need opinions: its been two days and baby is getting a slight more strength in her legs. I just fed her and gave the liquid vitamins and vitamin b and she tried to push herself up with her wings and body. When i put her in her donut she tried to adjust herself. She is bright, alert, and hooting...
Thank you so much Smoochie the website was wonderful and by the pics to compare my little chicken is normal for the situation. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
I have some wonderful news!! I'm getting slight movement from the nonfuctioning leg when i pull it way foward the leg shakes and she tries to pull it back and at the end of range of movement i got her to move her toes a little bit : ) i have a very positive outlook at the moment.
This is so hard. My mind is so very tired from trying to figure out ways to help her. I'm so afraid that if she lays too long it will cause other damage so I've been getting her up and trying to work with her. She looks exhausted, I'm exhausted. I did buy a calcium supplement and mixing it with...
Another question she just pooped and it was watery with odor where as before it was normal. Is this due to stress because diet has been changed and my working with her?
Thank you there is some great advice here. I have been working extensivly with her this morning massaging her legs and doing some range of motion. I have notice that in the nonfuctioning leg she is able to slightly pull it back at the hip but no fuction in the toes. I have built a sling attached...
Do i get the vitamin b at a health food store and how do i administer? I have tried to give pieces of grapes and cucumbers but she won't eat those all she wants is the hard boiled egg with shell. I read the egg was an excellent source of nutrition.
I want to do everything i can because she is not sick as she is eating and drinking beautifuly and she's bright eyed and she flaps her wing ever so often so i know she has a good chance. Do you think she might staighten out when the crap hormones get out of her. She and the others are a little...
